Yeah, Dempsey is nowhere near the elite players in the EPL. Solid player having a good season, that's about it.

Messi is one of the best players ever. He would be the best player in any league right now. RVP is the best BPL player this year, hands down. Dempsey is arguably the second best player in England this year. Surely, Messi is better than Van Persie and Clint. Rooney called Messi the best ever just last week.
On the surface your argument has its merits but dig into the idea and the answer reveals itself.
Dempsey is not even worthy to be involved in this convo..Dempsey isn't anywhere near Premier Leagues 2nd best player. lol
The only reason Clint's not with a top 4 team is because he doesn't play a traditional position. Educate yourself before you step in my yard ya muppet.
LOL, I'm fully aware of Dempsey's goal scoring tally this season. So your saying he is having a better season than Rooney, RVP, Aguero, Silva, etc... Traditional position, lol, he isn't on a big team because he is not big team material. You're not even in my league when it comes to football knowledge,muppet... and I'll just leave it at that..
Have to agree with Busy. I like Clint - he's a good player having an outstanding season. But 2nd best in EPL is a stretch. He's not even the 2nd best midfielder. He wouldn't start on a top 4 team. He's scored many goals this season because Fulham went most the year without 2 quality strikers and they let Dempsey play in the hole. He shoots everything on sight within 25 yards of goal. He has more missed shots than anyone else in EPL...by a long margin.
You can make the case because of the role Fulham's allowed him to play that he is having a top 5 season in terms of production, but to say he is the 2nd best player in EPL is laughable. coachr - quit being a homer.

I love Dempsey!
I'm not quite sure what elite means, but it's pretty noteworthy that he's scored 18 goals (almost all) out of the midfield with two months left in the season. He is easily the best player on a team that doesn't have much else--he's why Fulham is middle-table and not struggling to avoid relegation. He scores and creates...he's basically in the middle of every good attacking move that Fulham makes. That said, he's a notch below Van Persie, Rooney, Aguero and Silva and a few others. Based on his excellent season, I think he would rank between #5 and #15 in ELP right now.
To say that Dempsey couldn't play for a top four team is ridiculous. But those teams wouldn't buy him now because he's 29 and not that fast. After all, teams aren't beating down Man U's door to get the 31-year-old Berbatov even though he led the EPL in scoring last year.
This has been a great year for Deuce! Enjoy it.

Agreed with most all of this. Didn't say he couldn't play for a top 4...said he wouldn't start. Is he beating out young, nani or valencia for Man u? Silva, nasri or yaya for city? Bale, Van Der Vart or Modric for spurs? Maybe he'd have a shot @ Arsenal but his strengths don't seem to fit how they play. If he had gotten to his current level of maturity when he was younger he'd have been a beast. He's easily the best American player of all time and I'm taking nothing away from him.
But let's not go overboard with the accolades just because he's American. He shoots...hard and often. He's awesome in the air. He has great touch and awareness. But he does not create - look at his assists record. Call em like i see em.

Aguero is having a great season and I wouldn't argue against him over Dempsey. Rooney no way. The man that will inspire that team is Scholes. Silva has lost some form so he's out for now. Dempsey is not top 10 in overall quality but his season is top 5. I say second behind rvp.

You're an idiot and know fck all about the sport if you think Dempsey is ahead of players like Rooney..lol Dempsey isn't fit to wipe Wazza's boots..Much less Van Persie. Even Wilshere is a much better player than Dempsey.. I'll leave this thread to your fantasy world of Dempsey being the No. 2 player in the EPL.You're the only unknowledgeable person in this thread, that feels that way..Laughable, so have at it.. You're a joke.
