Great game. great tournament.
What was the final score of the Hypia vs Solar Red game?
Thank you,
Hyppia won 4-1. It was tied 1-1 at half. Solar's speedy forward caught Hyppia on a break away in the first half while my poor DD was in goal! As a funny story... on our way to get her post tourney treat I wanted to ask my DD about that break away... but I didn't want to be critical... so I said, in a light hearted way, "So, where you like 'oh man!' when the fast forward was charging towards you?"
What I really wanted to know was why she stayed back and didn't come forward like she has been taught to do on break aways... but, again, I didn't want to be critical as she played her heart out the entire weekend. Plus she has no formal training as a keeper... and Hyppia rotates many different girls in goal to help them learn multiple positions.
Anyhow, she replied (laughing and smiling), "Oh Daddy! I wanted to charge her but my feet just wouldn't move!"
How awesome is that? I hope we parents cherish these moments... I hear these kiddos of ours grow up quickly and move away.

You're welcome! I have it on video and can't wait to tell this story to her children one day! The best part was how she started to run in place while the forward was charging her... they were the fastest "busy feet" I think I have ever seen... she just couldn't get her legs to carry her forward. What a memory.

We stayed around to watch this game. Both forwards for solar and LP are great players. Solar forward had a breakaway that lead to first goal. Solar goalie did make a couple of great saves. Forward for LP scored on two beautiful free kicks and hammered home another on a pk. Fun games this weekend.
Sting-texans final was a great one as well as sting one on pks.

My fav play by Hyypia's forward was the 4th goal... she took the ball up the right side with a defender all over her. She then crossed it perfectly and Hyypia's left mid was home to tap it in. Truly a beautiful play.

I was impressed with the Defenders for Hyypia that shut down the Solar attack

Yeah, the Sting West-Hyypia game felt much closer than 7-0. In fact, I recall something like 3-2 and down to the wire.

Yeah, that's wrong.
Hyypia scores were:
Hyppia 12 Saints 1
Hyypia 12 GSSC 2 (that is wrong in PDF)
Hyypia 7 DT Moreno 0
Hyypia 3 Sting West 2
Hyypia 4 Solar Red 1

I thought the defenders for Hyypia and Solar played great containing both forwards for most of the game, set pieces did in Solar that were beautifully executed. And yes, those girls for Sting West play extremely hard, not very big but lots of heart.
