Wrong about the origins. My DD who is a 97 started in academy with the Rowdies, and they were affiliated with Sting. When they moved to Texans we stayed with Sting, that was 2007.

Fact - Rowdies were started by a CIA operative as a cover for a plot to overthrow the LHGCL admministration.

Re: Who Started Rowdies?
The original Tampa Bay Rowdies were an expansion franchise in the original North American Soccer League, which played for 10 seasons in Tampa Stadium starting in 1975. They were an immediate success, winning a Soccer Bowl championship in their inaugural season, making it to league final in both 1978 and 1979, and regularly making the NASL playoffs. The team showcased international stars such as midfield captain Rodney Marsh (England), league leading goal scorer Oscar Fabbiani (Argentina), forward Steve Wegerle (South Africa), defender Arsene Auguste (Haiti), and popular player and high goal-scoring Derek Smethurst (South Africa). Head coaches included well-known managers Eddie Firmani, John Boyle, and Gordon Jago. The club's substantial fan base were dubbed "Fannies". They enjoyed broad popular support in the Tampa Bay area until the NASL folded in 1984, after which the team played in various minor indoor and outdoor leagues before finally folding in 1993.
On June 18, 2008, it was announced that a new soccer club would revive the Rowdies name as the "FC Tampa Bay Rowdies" and play as an expansion team of the USL First Division, the second tier of the American Soccer Pyramid.[3] However, in November 2009 FC Tampa Bay announced their intent to instead become the co-founders of a new North American Soccer League, which would begin play in 2010.[4] These plans were subsequently superseded by the USSF Division 2 deal, which created a compromise one-season only league comprising teams from both the USL and the new NASL.
Stanley Nyazamba, 2010.Before actually beginning play, the club announced in January 2010 that they would drop the Rowdies moniker and become simply "FC Tampa Bay" due to an ongoing legal dispute over the merchandising rights of the Tampa Bay Rowdies name.[5] However, the name was still used informally. On October 15, 2010, the team announced that they will no longer use the "Rowdies" nickname at all,[6] but that they are still working to regain use of the name.[7] On December 15, 2011, the team announced that it had regained use of the Rowdies nickname and the team would be immediately renamed to the Tampa Bay Rowdies for the 2012 NASL season.[2]

OK Hotshot, why don't you track down David May and ask him when and where he started the Rowdies. I'm sure it won't damage his ego to talk about the teams he built over the years.
Where is Weenie when you need her? She has first hand knowledge. The 97 group was the first group he turned over to Ian.

"Wrong... but was at the same time correct?" You should run for Congress. The 95's were his first group that he coached at the select age... before Sting (and the 95 parents) replaced him with Tatu. The closest correct information to DM is in the thread you linked. It leaves out the part about his ego that is larger than China and how him showing up barefooted to train teams at Sting didn't go over so well.
Kenshi:
DM Unofficial Pre-select Training Bio (hopefully I've got my facts mostly right): At one time David May was an Independent. He's been forming and training pre-select teams that have played as "Rowdies" for over 7 years (probably closer to 10 ... may have started with his own daughter). In late 2003, he made a deal with Texans to train the 95G Red Academy team. He trained them for around 9 months. Many of the players on Texans Red 95 and Feet 95 trained with him during this time. Later in 2004, he accepted a position with Sting creating and training the Royal teams during Pre-select. While at Royal, he recruited and trained what is now the highly successful 95G Royal team (although several of girls were already there). He did very little with 96s, but recruited and trained a very tough 97 team. In 2006, David May was lured back to the Texans (Trading in all his royal blue clothes for jersies that were red with a nike swish) and was put in charge of the Dallas Division Academy (basically recruiting and developing "Red" teams). The talented 97 team came with him and they are now Dallas Texans Red 97G (also very successful in D1 . . . now coached at U11 by Ian Farley). He has reputedly developed very good 98, 99 and 00 teams that have been very successful at the academy level. His teams pass on to the first level Texan Red Coach, Ian Farley upon going select at U11. May's teams many times continue to sign up as "Rowdies" but all wear Texan Red academy kits. May is a serious trainer and recruiter. His skills and practices are very high level. Good attention span, athleticism, smarts and dedication is required (sometimes by the parents too). Girls that play for him tend to really like him. He has managed to rub some parents and other coaches the wrong way . . . mostly when he manages to attract some of the best talent off their teams or he beats them in game after game after game. He is very direct and has a mission to create superior Red teams for the Texans. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good teams and coaches out there . . . and there are plenty of awesome pre-select players that don't play for him . . . but . . . he is certainly one of the top developers of top teams in the pre-select arena. Boy . . . reading back over this, it sounds like an ad . . . really meant to be informational as I have seen a lot of the comings and goings first hand . . . my daughter was one of the 95s that trained with him, and I sort of pay attention to girls' soccer.

It was around before the present day academy program, my oldest DD is a 94 and played with and against the Rowdies.
They were coached by D May and they did go to the Texans at that time, it was there way to build a pre-select team before academy league, they only played indoor at that time.

More great lines. Let me see if I understand them. If your dd didn't play for the Rowdies, she couldn't make the top Texans team. Or maybe she could. But if she did, she would never start.
Whew.

What can we say about David May?
His personality is so magnetic, he doesn't carry credit cards.
His charm is so contagious, they've created vaccines for it.
He speaks fluent French, in Russian.
Years ago, he created a city out of blocks- Today over 600,000 people live and work there.
Alien abductors have asked, to probe them.
He lives vicariously, through himself.
Bear hugs are what he gives bears.
He once ran a marathon backwards, just to see what second place looked like.
His parents were named after him.
He once sent his $2,000 to a Nigerian scammer, and actually recieved his $2.7 million inheritance.
As a child, when asked by a teacher what he wanted to be when he grew up, answered, "myself".
One hour of conversation with him is like 16 hours of college.
He once thought he made a mistake, but was mistaken.
AND... if he slept with your wife/girlfriend, you would brag to your buddies...
David May, he is... the most interesting coach in North Texas.
