Overuse/ACL Injury Prevention Program?? Empty Overuse/ACL Injury Prevention Program??

Post by flounder 25/07/12, 10:29 am

I have been reading lately about the overuse injuries, particularly ACL tears in young female athletes. Does anyone have info on a training facility/coach that addresses these issues before they arise? I hear the magic age is around 11 to 2 when the injuries start to occur or around puberty. I would like to start my DD working on the exercises and movements early to reduce the risk as she grows.

The PEP program is the original ACL injury prevention program with documentation to support that it reduces injuries. It says the program is geared for 12 and up but gives modifications for younger players.

I have seen the programs online and the drills associated with them. Do you know of any fitness gym, personal trainer, or coach that offers these as "skills" training. It would be nice to be able to send her to a professional once a month/week.

Baylor had one at one point. Not sure if they still do...

Crull fitnes is a good one, but can be expensive!

If an injury/tear to the ACL happens....best pedi doc in town to fix it is Dr David brown in Grapevine..My daughter tore hers in half at 12,he replaced it with a hamstring.
Stronger than ever at U16,he walks on water if you ask me.
