Sadly Disappointed
Would like some constructive feedback on some of the LHGCL coaches for DII & DIII. Please don't be shy... I can take the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Thanks!

After 10 years of club soccer with my DD and BB, finding a good club/coach fit gives me the same feeling I get when watching TV - so many channels and so little worth watching.

I hired Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson to represent me since my civil rights were clearly violated. Problem solved.

So what is your family's goal once all this is finished? (Release? New Team in August? Somehow fix the issues within LPs structure and stay put? Etc.)Huckleberry wrote:Our issue is not with the coach or the club parents. Most of them have been wonderful. My frustrations mostly lay within the club. There are too many cracks in the foundation which will eventually sink you. Learn how to communicate, follow through with your commitments/promises, and create stability. I can't believe the amount of coach changes there has been in the past couple of months, crazy!

Sounds like a coach issue to me. The teams are mostly autonomous with the coach being the point of contact with the club. For the time I have been at LP there has been no need to talk to anyone at the "club". At FCD I had coach issues and ended up talking with the club and it was a nightmare but without coaching issues I am not sure what you are looking for from the club?

Re: Sadly Disappointed
I have been with LP for several years and lately have notice behavior or situations that have started to make me feel uncomfortable. Nothing personal, however it is affecting my daughter's soccer and my stress level is through the roof.
bigtex75081 - I appreciate your comment on watering the grass. Love the optimism, however in the famous words of Ken Rogers. "You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away and know when to run." This DD momma is ready to walk quietly away come this spring and look for greener pastures.
THANK YOU to everyone for your feedback. Both publically and privately. It has been most helpful.

go99 wrote:okay now we are getting somewhere. Sounds like you guys are getting coaches without the commitment. DD is at liverpool and has had the same coach. I always say go with the coaching not the club. The coach is way more important that the jersey you have on. Look at the team you know and how they play. Ask yourself, is this how I want my DD to learn to play. Then go tryout you favorites. But I would recommend leaving the club out of it. Either the coach is dedicated to his team or he isn't. but a coach leaving his team and his players fate up in the air with no communication on concern is a coaching issue not a club one. That being said, Liverpool has now his a size where organization is very important and they seem to be a little directionless here. But good coaches should keep you from all of that.
huh?

Re: Sadly Disappointed
So did the defender "intentionally pass" the ball to the keeper? I would say that was the intent, but a ref might see it as a defender having a brain-freeze and shooting on goal in a moment of confustion. The fact is, a ref can't really know a player's intent, so there is always the old saying of "in the opinion of the CR". Either way, the ref definitely got the restart wrong. Here's an intrigueing instance from Ask-a-Ref that adds yet another element of confusion to the restart. Notice especially the portion in bold letters:
Question:
Defending team has been awarded a free kick outside the penalty area. The kicker passes back the ball to his goalkeeper. The keeper touches the ball with his hands but the ball, anyway, enters the goal.
How the referee should reiniciate the game?
1. Awarding an IFK against the goalkeeper because he used his hands after the ball was passed to him by a team mate?
2. Allowing the goal because the goalie touched the ball before it entered the goal? or
3. awarding a corner kick because a team can not kick a free kick into its own goal?
USSF answer (February 12, 2010):
For direct free kicks taken outside the penalty area, the Law requires only that a ball is kicked and moved to be in play and thus be eligible to enter the goal for a score (or a corner kick, if taken by the defending team). That happened. The ball was kicked by a player directly to his own goalkeeper. If the goalkeeper had let the ball go, it would have been a corner kick for the opponents. If the goalkeeper had stopped the ball with his hands, it would have been an indirect free kick for the opponents. Unfortunately for his side, the goalkeeper touched the ball but allowed it to continue on its way to goal. The referee should invoke the advantage clause and record the goal. Restart with a kick-off for the defending team.

Liverpool is 3rd largest club in the area and closing in on #2. Being that big comes with organizational issues. However a good coach can insulate his/her team from many of those.

Huckleberry wrote:go99 - So I guess it leads to the question... why are there so many coaching changes within LP? It’s like a constant revolving door. Examples: some teams have had more than 5/6 coaches in a 3 year period. Coaches have left or moved teams just 2 months into a new season. Other coaches have lasted less than 6 months to a year with the club. Is this a regular thing with all clubs?

Looks like LP has two 2000 Girls teams and both teams have had same coach for quite sometime. Something does not add up here!!
