So much for cross league play..maybe for everyone except the vaunted TGPL teams..Gold Division is just TGPL all over again, so what's the point? They just got done playing each other in league play, so now will play each other in tournament play. Who decides this stuff?

I'll try to not read too much in to your comment. I'll just say that in my opinion their might have been some good games involving non-TGPL vs TGPL teams given the chance. It would have allowed us lesser teams the privilege of playing the best and gauging our progress. It might have also provided a little suspense.

I sent the team list to all of the coaches of teams in this age group. I asked them for any input they could give, i.e., rank the whole division 1-16, tell me if their team should be in gold or silver, etc.

Based on their responses (those that did) and the FBR, I broke the age group into Gold and Silver divisions. If a team is unhappy with their division placement, they should email me at afcrosters@yahoo.com

If I get teams that want to swap divisions and schedules, I will try and make it happen for them.

DTN Manchester is not TGPL. And Deleone is in the Silver Bracket. Who exactly were you wanting to match up to? DT south? From what I understand the coaches were able to request Silver or Gold.

Like Coachdom said... it's pretty much the coaches who decide where they play. If you wanted your team in Gold I suggest asking your coach why not.

Also, as mentioned DT Deleon and Juve are TGPL teams in silver.

Gold =
5 TGPL +
1 SDL D1

Silver =
2 TGPL +
3 EAL +
1 SDL D1 +
1 SDL D2 +
1 ???

Easily could've made a case for an 8 team Gold with 7 TGPL + 1 SDL D1/EAL, which would've had even less cross-league play, so I don't see where the big problem is.

TD's who want to get a good rep and have repeat customers will focus on trying to accommodate coaches' requests as best as possible while maintaining good competitive balance in their brackets. Matching teams up from different leagues is a ways down their list of priorities, and rightfully so.

Most coaches would rather play 3 or 4 highly competitive games against teams they've played before, than play 1 competitive game and two blowouts just so that they can say they played teams from a different league.

What should I address first..? Let me say, I'm not the all-knowing soccer guy that many on here appear to be. I was not aware the coaches made the decision, so that shoots down my complaint. I appreciate you clarifying that for me Dom. I guess my DD's coach does not see it the same way as this parent does. Actually, although I could make a few comments to reiterate/clarify my viewpoint it would likely lead to an endless back and forth. It'll all play out on the field in time as it should anyway.

I look forward to seeing that happen and revisiting the subject in the near future. BTW, I would really look forward to seeing that happen without the use of other teams players, but either way is fine.

In all seriousness, it's time to get out the measuring stick again and see how things are progressing. With the usual turnover and adding to the rosters in anticipation of 11v11 next year and select after that, we can guess what will happen but playing the games is where the rubber meets the road. I can't wait.

DeLeon is out - I need a team to replace them.
