We had players in different age brackets, and must say that the refs were consistently bad throughout this tournament. So much so, a ref said "Sorry, I am not sure what to do here." The ref would blow the whistle, freeze, not say anything,stare at the coaches, and then say "nevermind, just play." It was comical at times. All of our teams did great in the tournament, it was just disappointing to the players, parents, and coaches to have refs that couldn't control the game. A lot of the refs were very young, and I truly felt sorry for them. It was obvious that they did not know what they were getting themselves into.

We Finished 1-2 in the Tournament & Didn't Qualify for Sunday's Games, but Only Gave Up 3 Goals TOTAL in those 2 Losses...

The Losses were to Liverpool Dalglish & Sting Scarfone, who Played Each Other in the Championship...

I agree with the ref issue. The semi was called well, cant say that for any bracket games. In the final, the PT guy actually was the field ref! He did do a good job, but in a final you would think they would have it squared away. I guess its hard to secure enough refs when there are several tourneys going on.

I agree about the refs at this tournament...they were awful and inexperienced. I've been around select soccer for about 15 years, and I have found a new champion for the "worst linesman ever" award. It didn't affect the ultimate outcome of the game, so no sour grapes...but he is the new champ.

Like Wingnut said, my guess is the assignor was struggling with finding available refs with the competition with DT Fall Festival and the U90C tourney, Hurst and probably others. I looked around and noticed a lot of blue badges which means they are just getting started (Grade 9)

It's more United players with some Manchester players to help. Manchester nor United had enough players to field a team with just their players due to the holidays.

The LP RASE 05Gs and this DT team had two awesome games... in the end, aggregate score was even at 3-3 with DT taking the bracket game 2-1 and RASE 05 taking the finals by the same score. Great, fun to watch, soccer played by both teams. The DT parents also seemed like a great group... lots of friendly discussions during and after the game. Deucee's Daddy would have been proud! ;-)

you wanna solve the ref issue? Get all the parents to send emails to the tournament director and let them know. Demand, from you club/coach that they avoid the next tourney so the tourney director know you mean business. But its not gonna happen because we are scared to stand up to the clubs and the ppl running the tourneys.

Agree with whattheheck.

There are defintely teams and even clubs for that matter that will never participate in anything to do with Primetime. There are mixed opinions, but the refereeing is only one of many issues we have seen with that organization.

reffing wasn't great but it probably would have been better if the younger refs werent so affraid of the parents. But in the end, don't like the refs just play better.

Please tell me any tournament when every game, you are happy with the refs. Refs never win in every game.

One thing with any big tournament weekend(holiday) that the number of refs per games is low. The academy ages will suffer because the refs get paid more for the older kids.

tournament? I am complaining about the champions league officiating right now . Can't believe they blew that call. Where do they get these clowns

Part of the NTX parent group problem they have no idea what Champions league is...................

I agree it was a fun weekend and your '05 RASE girls are impressive. I think I saw some '04 LP girls helping was that the case? Either way it was a fun match on both sides. DTN United went undefeated all weekend just not enough gas in the tank to finish it off.


Also does anyone know if the boy from Odyssey '03 vs FCD Premier '03 is okay? Deucee's Daddy would not be happy with those parents side lines at all. I think I heard his collar bone might be broke due to a tackle. I just know when we arrived the parents were out of control and Primetime officials were involved. I just hope the little boy is okay.

Honestly it has nothing to do with pay. Would you put a grade 6 or 7 on a u9 game when you have a u18 game to fill? Would you have a blue-badge center the U18 game for the trade-off?

The lack of refs has something to do with pay, but a lot to do with having to manage the sidelines (coaches and parents). It's just not worth it for a lot of them to put up with. The kids are learning to ref, just like the u9's are learning to play. Adult refs, well that's a different story.
