Shout out to ODP

Kudos to ODP for a program well run and which helped my dd tremendously.

Let me start by saying my dd's situation may be unique. There are a variety of opinions on the value of ODP. But, as my dd nears the end of select soccer, has committed to play d-I soccer, and with the past few years of comments on the importance of ECNL and allegations of the diminishing importance of ODP on this board, I wanted to give ODP some kudos for an amazing return on the dollar and time contributed by my dd. (Yes, if you are trying to decide whether to participate and follow through, I am encouraging you to tryout/stay with it, as it may open doors as it did for my dd.)

What I found is that ECNL provided more exposure from which my dd got a greater number of inquiries than ODP by a wide margin. But what ECNL provided in quantity, ODP provided in quality. ODP allowed my dd to participate in practices and scrimmages/games ran by college level coaches at little cost. That was invaluable in the process IMO. I believe her exposure to ODP/college coaches at local, regional and other events associated with ODP ultimately contributed more, for soccer purposes, to her selection of a college than any other program.

So, if you are weighing whether to participate in ODP, I give the program a big thumbs up. It might open doors, and if it doesn't your dd still gets to practice and play with some other quality players who typically are your kids' opponents and she might come to appreciate them.

Agree on the positive experience and quality college coaching contacts. My DD loves ODP and had a blast at the regional camp. She was able to talk with many quality coaches 1:1 with no distractions at the camp.

I agree as well, being a newbee 01 to ODP my DD has loved the experience and energy!!
