UAL had them play 3 games in a week this year due to rain... so might not have been enforced anyway...
Also seems to be a shot at SDL/PSA/Primetime to encourage sanction league play.

It's about time NTSSA woke up and got rid of that academy rule.

What difference does any of this make? The academy/recreational lines have become so blurred and parents have so over-involved their children in academy sessions that line item changes by NTSSA will amount to exactly jack squat. It's not like the agency can or does enforce rules along these lines anyway. All of you inmates have run the assylum for many years now. Well done.

Guess you haven't tried competition gymnastics, they start them at 5 yrs old, 4 days a week for 3 hours a day and more. They redefine "over-involved".

Good changes. The simpler the better.
When an organization has rules that they can't/won't enforce, is there any value added by those rules? I don't believe so. If anything, by having rules that aren't enforcable, it hurts the organization as a whole. You have some people that play by the rules being handicapped by the people that don't play by the rules because they know there's no penalty. Better to just get rid of stuff like this.

From the rule change doc, this says it all...
JUSTIFICATION: Keep teams participating in NTSSA sanctioned leagues and to increase player participation. As recommended by U.S. Soccer’s “Curriculum” document for player sessions per week. Align rule to current league playing environment. Remove portion of the rule that is not enforceable.
