Congratulations to Kicks 07 for taking 1st place in Winter Blast

Congratulations to the kicks 07 girls for taking 1st place in the winter blast tournament this past weekend. Coach Perrette' girls had a strong show of commitment this weekend. Keeping 5 and 6 year olds enthusiastic and focused can be a challenge alot of times but Perrette appears to have a done a great job with those girls. They look like a strong TEAM top to bottom.

Congrats to Kicks 07. This team looks very promising.

Congrats to Kicks. Lp-Fowler never had the chance to meet up with you. We lost on PK's 2-1 to LP-Gerrard in the Semi's, what a heartbreaker for our little girls. Down 3-0, we came back to tie 3-3. Our goalkeeper totally laid out for the final(winning) shot but it was just out of reach(was a great kick in corner of goal).

Maybe we can hook up again in May or June for round 2. We need to work on Mutiny, Solar, Defeeters and any other 07 teams to make a big season ending tourney.

Coach Perrette?? Who's that?? That's the problem with kicks a bunch of parent coaches that never played soccer trying to teach kids.

Well obviously doing something right if they just won the tourney....sour grapes maybe? And you need to go check your facts again on Kicks.

Well maybe you should keep your mouth shut until you play them then? If I am really suppose to believe that you created an account today and choose to post on this subject only for a team you never played.....come on man? You must think we are as dumb as your posts

Actually I do think you are that dumb.

I haven't see a Kicks team that didn't look good on the field. If their parents are doing the coaching that's a compliment to them!! I'm not affiliated with Kicks, but we have played them and somebody is coaching them right.

Perhaps the other clubs should look into having parents coach! It obviously works!

The Kicks are a very good team - congratulations! They seem very well coached - compliments.

FCtillidie: Kicks 06 just did well(2nd) playing up(and won the November tourney in Mckinney), Kicks 07 won this weekend, 05 Kicks are ranked 3rd per the last rankings. So what if a parent coaches them, they are doing something right if their 05,06 and 07 teams are all highly successful.

Lets not forget about the 01s. All three also parent coached. Top 4 in D1 lake Highlands, Top in D2 lake highlands, and D3 lake highlands which is also coached by Coach Perrette.

Its all good, haters will hate, we will keep coaching and loving on our kids.

Not affiliated with Kicks but I personally know Coach Juan, Daniel (05 girls coaches), & Ritchie (08 girls coach who also look very promising) & these guys are all sharp n have been around the game for years. Kicks clearly has a great program going. I don't know Coach P but sounds like this team is doing well. Parent or not good coaching is good coaching. Good luck to all this season!

I have seen the 04s and 05s play. I am always impressed with how Coach Diaz has his girls playing.

Dumb and dumber. Good grief.

First off, I'm not even sure what a "parent coach" is. If a guy played professionally but has a daughter playing on his U-Tiny team, is he still the dreaded parent coach? If another coach played a little growing up, has a D-license, but no child of his own on his team, does that make him better because he's NOT a parent coach? Too generic. At the youngest ages, it doesn't take much to teach the kids good soccer technique. And it often doesn't even matter much if the coach has never played. If he can demonstrate good touches on the bal, make it fun, but challenge the players - they'll do fine. For a while. True, eventually the coach that has never played will either have to improve through a lot of practice/studying on his own or pass the players off to someone more knowledgeable. But let's not kid ourselves: Soccer is not rocket science.

On the other hand, the rankings of 05, 06, and 07 teams mean exactly two things: Jack and squat. If a parent believes their coach, team, and daughter are necessarily "good" because they win a tournament or finish with a winning SDL record, it reveals them as a first-time-around parent... and probably someone in for disappointment when the girls hit 14 and things begin to equalize.

All good points Xara. Not to mention the craziness on these boards over the last 3 days about guesting players and trophy hunting. That happens a lot at the 05-07 age groups so how do you give credit to a team that gets the benefit of a great goalscorer forward who is unhappy with the 2 teams she already plays for and who will never play for that team again.... or at least not until the next tournament?

My guess is that someone affiliated with Kicks Nation is fueling this fire to make Kicks the topic of discussion. I think this movie has already been played with the 01 Kicks teams. Make Kicks the topic of the conversation, talk about how much of a "family" it is and how much "cheaper" it is, and raise the curiosity. AndroFan, a long time ago, used to sing the praises of Andromeda and then switched horses. Nothing wrong with that, he is without a doubt a "Fan". I believe when he first started on this forum he was an "Andro Fan" thus the name. Of course it could have something to do with being an Android Phone Fan
