Congratulations Sting '00 Rezaie
Congratulations Sting '00 Rezaie
Based on the scores and lots of text messages from parents at the tournament, the team showed a lot of resolve in coming back from a surprising tie in pool play and getting into the knockout round with the #3 wildcard spot by the thinnest of margins.
In route to the Finals
- They knocked off the #1 team in Colorado (Real Colorado, defending PDT champion, Surf Cup Qtr finalist) 2-1 in the quarter finals
- They took down the #1 team in Washington (NW Nationals, State Cup Champion, Region 4 semi-finalist) 4-1 in the semi finals
The championship would come down to two familiar foes as Tophat (who has played several NTX '00 teams in recent years) would meet Sting Rezaie again for a rematch from pool play. Sting was finally undone in the finals by the #1 team in Georgia (Tophat) where one of the top '00 forwards in the nation calls home.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is only the 2nd time a NTX '00 team has returned home with hardware from an out of town tourney that included top level competition.
Congratulations and job well done ole friends.

TopHat is certainly for real and will move into Top 10 Nationally after this tournament and deservedly so. They are all big, strong, physical athletes who have been together for a while and who definately understand the game. Best passing team we saw there. Their top forward is an ODP U13 National Team participant (and a nice young lady to boot) and deserves every bit of it. I'm sure that whoever wins State Cup will get to see her up close and personal at Regionals this year.
We hung with them great in bracket play losing 1-2 in a very competative and close game. Ran out of gas during game 6 but the girls played with all they had.
