I could be wrong, would not be the 1st time, but I believe LP 00 is in way over their heads by playing up in this one. JMO

I was confused about this one as well. Not sure this is the event to test the 99 waters. Some heavy hitters on here. We shall see.

Tourney will not let lp play 00'. Team was told only way they could play was if they played 99'.

It is a ECNL tournament! That could have something to do with it.

The Dallas International Girls Cup is an official JR ECNL competition in the age categories born on/after August, 1999 and 2000 (U12 and U13). This means that the competition is only open to ECNL Member Clubs and approved international clubs.

This would be why you are playing 99's

Thanks for the info. I actually knew why I was just stepping in and saying that lp was put in the 99 bracket and not choosing to be because of some notion that they "needed" to play up.

So why not wait until next year to play?

I think this will become a ECNL tournament . They are just starting with the jr's. each year it will increase!

If so, it would go against the ECNL's trend over the last few year's of running their own tournaments separate from any other event. Initially all the ECNL tournaments were part of something else, i.e. Disney, Final Four, Las Vegas Showcase, etc. I think the only event that still exists as part of something else is PDA, but I could be wrong.

I'd be surprised if this becomes an ECNL event, even though a lot of ECNL team's play in it.

You don't think ECNL wants to have a women's tournament that matches the Dallas cup.

If that were the goal (and I'm not saying it is, I just don't know), it could likely be more easily achieved by inviting international teams to one of their stand alone events where they already have the perceived top competition from around the US (note I said perceived), rather than trying to partner with DIGC.

Just my opinion. I just don't see them needing it. They just brought, I think, close to 150 teams to Dallas. Looking at the participating teams in DIGC, looks like there are a total of around 10 teams from outside the US. Surely, if they desired, they could get 10 international teams to an ECNL event.

In the years my dd's team played in the DIGC, the international teams they played provided an awesome experience for the girls, but they really weren't much competition.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

I'm not sure I would have done the brackets any differently but if I were an Eagles parent (and stiff competition was my greatest concern) then I would be unhappy with my bracket. DT Red and the Sweden team (based solely on results from last year's '99 international teams) shouldn't present a challenge to Eagles.

I would prefer for DT to play Eclipse instead of Sockers given DT played Sockers in the Eclipse Tourney over the summer in Eclipse Challenge cup. Eclipse should present a greater challenge although Sockers was very solid this summer. The TD got it right in seeding Eclipse over Sockers though.

Early predictions:

C: Solar Red (toughest bracket by far IMO)
WC: Sting Medina

A vs WC: DT
B vs C: Solar Red

.... Don't the DDs have school on Wed/Thursday? It looks like the '00 Dallas girls will only have to miss one day of school (Thursday) but still....

Flight C definately looks like the toughest bracket. IMO (w/20-20 hindsight), the brackets could have been better distributed competitively. This was a tough competition for DT Red to be in; Most likely brought in to round out brackets, but they help ensure the advancement of the other 3 teams in B Bracket. Predictions:
