Talk about home field advantage. The local club hosting the tournament has their teams "GSSC Blue and Black" playing 3 games on 3 different days while FC Dallas, Sparta, and DT all have to play three games in one day starting at 8am. You would think they could be a little less obvious.

On paper it should be Sting West vs FCD Premier in the finals but both of these teams seem to play to their competition so maybe someone could upset one of them but I doubt it.
I thought Vitesse 03 was now FWFC or is this a new Vitesse team?

What does it mean when the King Tut has "declined" next to a team name? Did the tournament decline the team? If so - why? Money? Spite?

Dunno why LHGCL decided to start on Tuesday this year, but only allowing girls a single day to recover in Texas heat for QT isn't enough imo.

OK, makes sense to me now. The team declined the tournament not the other way around. Thanks for the info.

Re: May - Aug 2013 Tournaments for 03's - Complete List with Teams
So far, no sign of the following teams in either King TUT or Puma Cup...
SRSA
DT South
LP Elite
Fever (are they or aren't they playing King TUT)
FWFC Black
LP Barnes
Cosmos
DT South B-E
GSSC Thunder
Not sure I remember that many consensus top 30 teams skipping the tune-ups heading into QT the past couple of years, and definitely don't remember 3 consensus top 10 teams (let alone top 5 teams) skipping the tune-ups. Possibly some off-the-radar friendlies being set up???
Of course, Puma Cup still has another week, and outside of LP Elite and Cosmos, I think all of these teams are from the South or West, so a bunch of these teams could still show up at Puma.

they are ducking the tournament, wouldn't want to suffer any embarassing defeats now would we ?

SRSA, well I think we all know that they are scared of everyone in the 03 division. Well besides the ones they recently destroyed in their only 03 tournament of the summer.
Elite is obviously scared too, after winning TGPL Gold, finishing 2nd to DTS in a Primetime tournament and then winning the Kyle Owens Tournament a couple weeks ago they too are afraid.
I guess to the victors goes the spoils. Prove yourself over the last 6 months and more recently the summer then you don't need to play 3 straight days before qualifying starts.

Re: May - Aug 2013 Tournaments for 03's - Complete List with Teams
I think that with QT following so closely behind Tut and Puma we will see more teams, particularly those who are not concerned about their rankings going into QT (I am not making any such claims about the Fever team) pull out to avoid fatigue and injury prior to the QT.
I was talking to a dad of a DD on SRSA and that was the explanation he gave me that had been given to him by the coach or manager. Seems reasonable to me, but as my moniker implies, I am still just treading water trying to figure all this out.
I heard somewhere else that the fields in Frisco where Tut is being held do not allow anything to be driving into the ground so tents and awnings are a bit of a challenge for Tut. I am just spreading rumors as I have not spoken to anyone that I know to be an authority, but anecdotally, I can see the stars lining up for more teams to drop out before its over.

Re: May - Aug 2013 Tournaments for 03's - Complete List with Teams
Assuming these three teams played in this tournament you'd have to believe that all three would make it through pool play and probably to the semi's so now you are talking about playing 3 to 6 games possibly in oppressive heat on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Then as your reward, you get to turn around on Tuesday and start qualifying, while all these other teams that never make it out of pool play when these teams are in a tournament are home by Saturday resting. Yipee!
Now if it were me I'd set up scrimmages with older teams and boys that will make the girls work harder than if they played in King Tut or Puma and also allow you to have a better control of when and how many games your team gets to play. So I guess it could be that not playing in King Tut or Puma for certain teams could actually end up meaning they are the ones working harder and smarter.

TUT is a 4 game friendly format.

sorry no dice, no top team wants to suffer a loss this close to qt, you are naive if you think otherwise....
btw i think that the tuesday qt is overblown, they are just padding their time so they can use that week if they have to, qt will be on the weekend most likely as it has always been.

Re: May - Aug 2013 Tournaments for 03's - Complete List with Teams
Seriously, you are the naive one if you think one of those teams would lose a game to someone that would be considered a bad loss. I think combined those teams have lost maybe 2 (could be one) games in the past 6 months. There is absolutely nothing for those teams to gain in playing. But yes, that weekend could be the one weekend that all the stars aligned and someone outside the Top 5 beats one of those teams. Which would make exactly zero difference in the seeding for qualifying. I'd personally be more worried about getting your team out of pool play vs whether or not some other team is playing in a tournament or not. However that's just me.

gee thanks for your second post.pardon me if i discount your expertise since you didn't even know how many games are played in the king tut and since i doubt you are on or even know anyone who actually seeds teams, i will discount your expertise on that too....

So if you want to discount what I'm saying, great, I don't care. If you want to try to find something smart to say to discredit what I said, great I look forward to your first smart post SP.

FCostanza wrote:Notice I mentioned both the King Tut and Puma so that's why I used the numbers 3-6 games, the number 4 falls between those two numbers. If I need to get you some flash cards to help you with your numbers I can look into getting some. The Puma Cup, at least according to the website, is an advancement tournament unless there aren't enough teams then it's simply a pool play tournament. So in order to save time I lumped both tournaments into my potential games pool.

There are plenty of "top teams" playing the King Tut and will most likely benefit from good seeds at QT.
But in the case of SRSA, LP Elite, DTS it does not matter if they were all seeded dead last at QT, they will come out on top. They will get better work training and scrimmaging within rather than attending a tournament.
Its really not that complicated.
Now, Fever and other 10-20ish teams not attending? I will keep my "ducking competition" thoughts to myself on that topic...
