I know many clubs have mandatory fundraisers built into the contract that you sign. However, in academy, you have not signed a contract nor agreed in advance to these things.

I'm curious from real experience: how many academy parents are participating in these? And have there been any repercussions if you do not?

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. It was in the contract you signed last July. And yes for this particular club academy does participate in the fundrasier activity. I bought way to many flowers from an academy player last year Rolling Eyes

Academy players do not sign contracts so it is not mandatory to participate in the fundraiser. It does seem the club has more players participating in academy than select.

Not a chance but nice try. No more flowers for me. 6 flats last year AND they looked awful and did not do well AND the flowers don't come until in April. lol! However, I do know that they are upfront that this is coming and it is in the contract--just gotta read the small print.

In this other string RoidRage wrote in Post n°33, "FCD- $550 every six months comes out to about $1100 per year and that includes league fees for spring and fall seasons. Parents pay for tournys. Uniforms not included. La Liga on Sundays for anyone no matter what club your on...just bring your kid."

Is that correct? When I read it I paused because I didn't realize Liga was open to anyone. I went to the website, http://www.fcdallas.com/youth/juniors, and read...

"The FCDY Liga is our in-house development program exclusively for FC Dallas Junior Academy teams on Sunday afternoons at FC Dallas Stadium..."

Can somebody tell me if Liga is exclusive to FCD Youth or is it open?

LOL-

Yes LIVERPOO does Flower Fundraisers every Spring. We hated it!

And yes it was frowned upon if we didn't sell our flats. We are so much happier now. No more flower Mandatory fundraisers.

Oh and FCD LIGA Sundays. We saw them out there as we had some Sunday games and they all seemed to be wearing FCD Academy gear. I know not a real good answer

At the academy level we did go for some sessions, but I called the coach for my DD age group first and made a connection first. They did not mind at all for us to attend. We were the only one who appeared to be visiting during those times, and did opt not to join. Just not a good fit for us. We wanted more of a local family connection and something closer to us logistically.....
