Re: Solar facility?
Disclaimer... I have nothing against Solar and know nothing of their plans. Just trying to make a little humor on a Monday morning.

Re: Solar facility?
Also found this info from the Solar Site:
As of February 2010, the Solar leadership team is aggressively pursuing a long term (5-10 years) agreement for a dedicated Solar training facility consistent with the primary locations of the Dallas Solar teams. Once these facilities are secured, the locations and effective dates will be announced here.
Over 3 years of aggressive pursuit - they must be tired!

Re: Solar facility?
Wasn't it just a month or so ago that these boards were full of complaints about Solar coaches not getting paid?

Re: Solar facility?
A facility sounds nice, but it comes with a ton of overhead that the parents are then asked to subsidize through increased dues, fundraisers (blah!), mark-ups on new uniforms, and tournaments where you play a bunch of teams from your own club.
And, like ".com" naming rights for a stadium, acquiring a permanent facility (or signing a long-term lease) seems to mark NTX clubs for death.

The families/coach are the most important, but you need to realize the majority of clubs know the key to longevity is facility-based. Your club's overhead now is for funding the future purchase of a facility. With many cities not allowing for-profits to use their fields and clubs contracting/monopolizing fields - permanent/owned or long-term leasing keeps the blood flowing and now bleeding out.
