The Texans being a large organization, have multiple 04 teams with multiple girls playing multiple teams. This contributing to the part I am not sure what happened. If the names were wrong, numbers wrong, or what. But apparently the roster was wrong. And Carey officials made 4 girls sit. Now we started the tournament with 13 girls. In semi finals, one girl pulled a muscle in her thigh. She was reluctantly sitting in championship game. When they benched the 4 girls. That brave girl donned a goalie shirt and shut out the 05 team in second half. One of the gutsiest things I have seen in a long time. Academy girls can float at anytime to any team. My daughter wants to play 8 days a week. Loves to compete. I love to oblige. Having played way too many years of competitive sports in many arenas and on all levels, I love sharing my knowledge and experience with her. Many teaching moments in the events that unfolded. Great soccer was played on the field. Ugly coaching from the Garrett coach on sting side (my opinion). She seems to be very competitive. Win at all costs. If you cannot do it on the field, try every means. Very much a bad example and actually quite comical watching her stomp her feet and scream. It ran the gamut. From illegal players, players too old, shouldn't have been a direct kick. Her strategy was very clear. First try to win on technicality, stack as many girls as she could and try to survive to pk's. Do not know coach Freddie intimately, but for him to not lose his cool to the stuff spewing from that lady is commendable. The girls played hard and deserved a medal. In my opinion, was not cheating, but if rules were broken, it was not done maliciously, I would chalk it up to new team trying to manifest. And if it results in dq, so be it, but we all know who won, with 5 shut outs. All this being said, I try to find the good in everything, and I would like to thank Garrett for showing my daughter how not to lose. When you lose, do not try to blame refs, weather, field conditions, other team of cheating, etc. you take your lumps and take note of areas that need to be worked on. You tell the other team "good game", shake their hand, then want to go practice immediately!
Cheaters always have excuses and rationalizations ready.Congratulations you have now guaranteed yourself roster checks for every tournament.
Not the first time he's done this. He has been called out on here before, it's just plain and simple cheating.

The way these parents from the texans treated this sting coach after that game made me want to throw up in my mouth. They should have been mad at their coach for cheating.

This issue has nothing to do with "haterzzz" as you call them. Why didn't the DT team follow the rules?

A simple process to get an official roster and with the Texans being such a big organization with loads of experience signing up gor tourneys, should not have been an issue at all.
By not following the rules of the tournament rules, you open yourself up to "cheating" accusations.
Follow the rules and these would not have been an issue.
Agreed. Texans got caught plain and simple...quit blaming this on a clerical error or the Sting coach...it just makes you look worse.
I expect that the Carey officials will do the right thing and award 1st place medals to Sting North.
It's an unfortunate life lesson for the Texan girls.
Hopefully this will be a stern warning for all other academy teams...
Get you roster legal...they're checking this summer.

What about the other illegal wins (in this tourney) before this game? How is that fair to the other teams?

Re: Tournaments this weekend - May 10-12th, 2013
I looked at the Carey Invitational rules document and #3 clearly states:
3. A game shall be declared a forfeit by the Cup & Games Committee or tournament committee if an ineligible player participates in a game. Any protest of ineligible player must be reported in writing, with
either a one hundred dollar ($100.00) cashiers check, money order or cash deposit, before the end of the game to the tournament field headquarters.
The game should not have been allowed to continue at that point. It should have been awarded a win to the Sting team. Seems to me that the tournament director was not aware of the rules of his own tournament.

It is a tournament, not league play. It is academy, no contracts, you can bring whoever the heck you want to, as long as they are an 04 and they are on the roster. Hence where the mistake was apparent. I have watched the girls practice together for a month, a new team in the making? Who knows. Like I said, a tournament. A good time to see how good your team is, or try out a new team. No "cheating" was performed. Just well played soccer. If we lose on a technicality, so be it. We will fix it and win next time. Just like the team we played lost, because they weren't the best team that day. Go fix that, and win next time. They are a very good 05 team with tons of potential. There was no bumping of chests. Only thing I saw was a very competitive, irate coach showing a pitiful example to their girls on how to compete. Very important to learn to lose with dignity. To the "rationalizing" cheaters comment, like I said, nobody intentionally did anything to "cheat". Mistake maybe, and if it costs the girls a medal, we as parents dropped the ball and owe the kids a sincere apology and teach them mistakes are made in life, you learn from them and fix them. The only rationalizing I see is someone losing and trying to find the blame in everything but they're performance. Not trying to change anyone's mind, just giving one side of the story. My daughter has played on a team that would not have had a chance of winning that tournament. She is a good player. She wants to play everyday, and this was a good experience for her. It was nice to see her be a part of a good team. Her getting to reap the rewards of all of her hard work and win was a proud moment. Her and the girls earned it. Now if they don't get a medal, that is when parents take the blame and fix it. My dd has learned how to lose, and turn around turn around and go right to work. It is obvious the sting team and coach know how to win. My advice would be to devote some time, (you don't need much because y'all are good), but learn how to lose. Like Forest Gump says, " that's all I got to say about that". See you on the battlefield.

The issue isn't mixing players and guest playing because that's what Academy is about - opportunities and experience. The issue is, however, cheating and worse, hiding the fact or making excuses about having to borrow a third of another team every week.
