I sat down and figured up my gas to and from practice (easily over 2K a year), plus tourneys, 1 out of town tourney, GK gloves, 1 pair of cleats for the year, etc. I stopped when the cost was over $6K for the year. Why make myself sick???
1 pair of cleats a year, must be a goalie thing. My DD is lucky if a pair makes it through a season.
That stuck out to me as well. I think 3 to 4 months is the most a pair of cleats lasts in our house. At $100 a pair it comes to about $350-$450 a year for cleats.
3-4 months??? Tell your dd to quit walking on concrete with them. Put them on at he field. It's bad for the ankles and knees to walk in cleats on concrete anyway.
She doesn't, and it usually isn't the cleats (unless a couple rip off), the shoes just break down.

We have one pair of Copa's and one Diadora Pair. DD switches back and forth between them. Copa's definitely have held up the best. Diadora's last about 3 to 4 months. DD loves the flashy shoes with bright colors, but won't go without her Copa's now. Also, she won't wear blades due to her own research into injury prevention, and some tips from dear old dad. She has had some occasions where a "soccer professional" has looked at her shoes and commented that she must be serious about soccer because she is wearing Copas, which then reinforces her "desire" to wear the Copas. Silly I know, but it's branding and marketing at the ground level.

My dd wore Copas but they were lasting her 2 months at the most. She drags her toe, so they were ripping apart rather quickly. Switched to Nike Tiempos and they lasted much longer. Now she is in college and has to wear Under Armour. I have not heard very good reports on them. We will find out soon.
