09, good speed, good size, outstanding ball control, lacks shooting and focus, but fustrated with her rec team...anything more serious yet in Frisco area. Maybe a good 09 PSA team?

Just let her play. Motor skills, tracking the ball and thought processing not exactly in a place where she should be looking for an olympic team yet. Maybe next year Very Happy
Did she personally say, "I'm frustrated with my rec team" ??

Goodness. Is she 5 yet? Admittedly, I had my dd starting at the Y at 3 and Rec at 4, academy at 7. At 6 & 7 she had a season in Rec she scored 42 goals. But goodness 5 yrs old seems young to be frustrated with rec!! My kid was having a blast at that age. We had her playing up a year...maybe try that???

A five year old that lacks focus?

I'm sorry to have to be the one to break it to you, but the game may have already passed her by.

Many of the clubs offer open skills sessions.  I would suggest taking her to a few of those to see how she does.  Talk to the coach running the skills session and get their opinion.  They will be able to tell you whether she is ready and able to play up with an 08 academy team.

At the '09 age group (is there an '09 age group?), I think simply taking her out back and working with her one on one will help her more than playing on a good '08 team.  The 07's are just getting wet behind the ears at this point, so you are certainly putting the cart before the horse.  Let your DD build her passion to play the game before you burn her out.

I have a grand kid that's an '09. I don't think he's ready to be serious about any sport yet.

Saw some '09's playing at Blue Sky a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how serious the kids were but their parents sure were...

So wait a second TRD...  Are you, or are you not, the same TRD that posted the following for '07's under the title "For Advanced Players"...

The Real Decoy wrote:If your daughter is far ahead of her teammates in ability, is being held back in practices due to her teammates' skill level, or is relied upon to do everything for her team, consider coming to open practices in The Colony or in Allen with the two top teams in the age group, and with THE top Academy in North Texas - Liverpool FC, who have produced the top teams in each age group from '03 to '07.

Liverpool Gerrard in The Colony, or Liverpool Fowler in Allen.

Both teams have a top to bottom roster of talented players with equal abilities.

Each player can execute every skill and technique and have been for over a year - scissors, step overs, zico's, l-turns, bring downs (juggle in the air to trap), etc., and can one-touch and two-touch pass without hesitation at varying distances.

They are assigned homework at the beginning of each month and at the end of each practice.

Players on both teams already understand each position and their role.

They are all taught to do the right things by how and when to pass, how and when to beat a player, and are not permitted to aimlessly play kick ball, use their toe, or do anything else that is detrimental to their development just for the sake of a win or goal.

Challenge your daughter and be part of a team full of technically skilled players.

PM for details if you are in the Frisco/Plano/Colony/Lewisville/Carrollton area for Liverpool Gerrard, or Allen/Richardson/McKinney/East Plano or Frisco area for Liverpool Fowler.

Not currently accepting players new to the game. Neither team is in "build" mode.

According to this, your '07's have been doing what the OP wants for his '09 for "over a year".  That means that they started this stuff when they were 5 year olds.  Yet you're telling the OP that he's jumping the gun with his '09?Suspect Suspect Suspect

Or was your response just a smoke screen and you've already sent the OP a PM inviting his DD out to an LP practice???Suspect Suspect Suspect

C'mon Man!

I have an 012 that's looking for an 09 team. My reasoning is that I'm not sure how to reference the age group, 2012 or 012 or '12 or just 12. But 09, that's something I can buy into. Did I just write I several times, please replace all references to myself with references to my DD since she is the one that wants this

I'm in! I've seen "training" programs that start at 18 months but I'm still waiting to hear back from the coach if they change diapers.

LOL, if you have an 09 playing anything but rec, and I'd even question that, you are either a first-time parent that hasn't removed the helicopter blades yet, or you need parental guidance counseling.

So, since I am not a first time parent, I guess that means I need counseling - but we probably already knew that.

Im done with soccer after the 09 tho, Im already teaching my 010 to play catcher and bat lefty. You know how hard it was to find 3t catcher's gear?!

what does it mean to have such athletic characteristics as a 4 yr old? This is youth sports idiocracy.

Post by TripDDs 12/07/13, 03:15 pm

So if I can tell my DD at 4 is faster and bigger then the other girls, saying she is has good size and speed is idiotic? She has older siblings in select, and she has grown up with a ball at her feet, so she can actually dribble and change direction, so saying she has outstanding ball control for a 4 year old is also stupid? Trying to find a team with other 4 and 5 year olds closer to her ability is also not right?

I understand 4 is younger than most, and doesn't mean squat long term, but she will be 5 next month and 6 the year after, why is it too early to try finding other girls who want to practice soccer?

there is another thread around here somewhere that talks about what is most important..teammates, coach, league etc... Teammates were either 1st or second because they face each other day in and day out at practice...more so than what league against what team.

This guy is saying he wants to find more advanced players for his dd to play with. Again teammates were at the top. Nothing wrong with that. It doesn't take a genius to figure out height and speed, so his is bigger and faster.. He aint saying she's playing up with 07's...Though I hear Kicks has 08s and possibly an 09 on their 07 team maybe try there. Laughing

Left Foot Studio is a new club but looking for top girls to build it up and make it become a huge powerful club. I would love to coach your daughter and help her become great. We play at Blue Sky in the Colony and train in the Colony. let me know if you are interested in more details.

Could you please explain the reason for being huge and powerful? Do you charge $160 per month for this age group as you do the others? Also, how have your select teams fared in league and tournament play?

To be a big well rounded club with alot of age groups to train to be successful, to build a big empire and have multiple teams in all age groups. Like I said we are a new club trying to build teams and just partnered with D'feeters. The 08/09 girls fee is $90 a month with two practices a week in The Colony, Texas.

Left Foot Studio has a good 08/09 training group out in The Colony. Practices on Tuesday from 5-6pm and Thursday from 5:30-6:30. $60 a month for two practices a week. Looking for girls that are interested in good quality training while also having fun.
Here is the website if you would like to check out more information.

If its something your not interested in right now then in a couple years this would be a great place to start.
