I know what several people are thinking...there is an A&D board at Classic and LHGCL - your child is likely to pay the piper should you attempt something like this (2, 3 game minimum).
I can't fathom watching the first part, let alone the outcome. This is probably where the A/R should step in, or, at least the assessor.
Thinking both referee and player were just going to another game before all this happened, unreal. Not the obvious danger of a broken leg/concussion.

It just seems that the conflict between referee and player started well before the game. Referee had a knife so definitely felt he might need to defend himself at some point. Or was ready to kill when the moment presented itself.

The fury of players and parents is very real. After having a full bottle of chewing tobacco spit dumped on my car and soccer moms physically threaten me I had enough of officiating.
It is important to remember that many of the officials we parents get angry at and yell at during games have received threats and been confronted atleast once. Any REF that has been at it for a few seasons has experienced some confrontation. We parents all need to realize that officials are on the field with the realization they have to watch the sidelines and the players for their own personal safety.
