2013 Uniform Donations

As we all know, every year, girls move to new teams, teams switch clubs and clubs switch uniforms.  Rather than throwing away the old uniforms or letting them gather dust in your children's closets, please consider contributing them to less fortunate children around the world.

Last year, LHGCL families donated over 100 complete uniform sets (boys and girls), in addition to hundreds of individual jerseys, shorts, cleats, balls and shin guards. These items were donated through the FC Dallas Foundation’s “Gear Up Project” to youth soccer programs throughout the world.
The “Gear Up Project” collects new and gently used soccer gear from organizations, teams, clubs and individuals and redistributes them to help youth enjoy the sport they love, soccer. Lake Highlands Girls Classic League is once more cooperating in this effort, and we encourage all North Texas clubs, their teams, and their players to come together to help. Our goal is to collect complete soccer kits (game uniforms, practice uniforms, backpacks, etc.), used balls, gently used cleats, shin guards, and training equipment. Collections will take place at the onset during LHGCL league play.

Our first collection weekend will be Saturday and Sunday, September 7 at UTD (near the concession stand) from 9:00 – 5:00, and Sunday from 9:00 – 1:00. We will have collections on multiple dates/locations to allow everyone multiple opportunities to donate.
How your team can help:
• Please notify your players and coaches to hold on to old uniforms. If managers want to start collecting now to bring all together to the collection sites, that would help out tremendously.
• We are also in need of assistance in the inventory and sorting process. If any of your players are looking for a community service initiative to lend a hand to, this would be an outstanding opportunity!
• Encourage your parents to clean out the closet of older uniforms and gear – even old recreational team uniforms can find a home.
