Is it important, to the success of the team, for the girls to bond and build chemistry outside of soccer?

For the coach yes.  

Creates bonding between players and parents which creates peer pressure to stay with the team while the coach retains ultimate decision making on who gets cut.

For the players it is more important to build on field (practice and game) chemistry and understanding of each others capabilities, strengths, weaknesses, tendencies and preferences.  

It is great if they like and interact out of soccer but, they need to remember that the coach has total control of the 'team' and gets to decide who is on the team each year.  

Don't bond based on 'team', make bonds based on 'friends' who you will interact with regardless of 'team'.  At the older ages some of the most fun ours have had is playing against 'friends' who are former 'teammates'.

For a girls team YES.

Agreed. Female teams that do not get along won't be together for too long. Strife between players is a sure killer of a team. Not so much with boys teams.

No. It sure does help, but not essential to success.
