So what was your opinion of the field size/goal size ratio coach?

Field size was fine. Goals are regular to league play. I'd prefer everything to be smaller making it harder to score thus more challenging. We must have hit the GK 8 times so the goals could have been full size adult ones! We scored some weak goals that trickle in because of the size if the goals. I don't think the size of the goals and field should be an excuse for any team

Understood, you prefer 8v8 soccer to be played on U6 soccer fields.

No I'd like field size and numbers to be lower 5 or 6 a side to be honest. I think we here in North Texas are in far too much of a rush to get to 11 a side. The Aguero squad has played in the 05 group for 2 seasons and have played 9v9 for the fall. Last night I said we are only playing 8v8 and they looked shocked until I explained we are just taking 1 defender away....their response was oh that's easy!

Which is exactly what was stated. Those are 6v6 fields with ovsrsized goals.

No they are way too big. No disrespect to the Ayses but it was way to easy to dribble around players so mine didn't pass much. On a smaller field players would be closer thus making dribbling harder and putting the emphasis on better ball control and passing. Larger Fields pander to the athletic players so bad ball control doesn't matter. I had a hard time stopping them from dribbling around the other team because they could. No excuses from me as we have to work with what the area dictates but I do believe it harms the long term development. We constantly use small side games in practices to make up for the lack in competitive games

So to you athletic teams cant pass or play advanced soccer.. haha. You need to get out and watch more games of your own age group.

Of all the upper echelon teams i have seen there is only one that i would classify as athletic and a Kickball team. The rest... well, maybe you should have signed up for platinum coach....

Haha no I didn't say athletic players can't pass and only just play kickball but bigger fields favor the athletes. I will reserve judgement on whether we should have been in platinum or not. I've seen Kicks play and they are excellent. We've played against Solar McDaniel. Texans Torres now SRSA and Sting Chacon and games are compatible to us. We played Solar Armstrong and Liverpool Fowler in UAL in the spring of this year and won that league so maybe platinum would have been better. Maybe gold would have been better for our Negredo squad.

So why duck Plat and play gold...yall are playing 05s in league play but duck the top 06 teams and play down?    Trophy hunting or missing a couple star players?

The length of the fields is not really a big deal.  The big deal is when fields are narrow on the width.  Teams are usually taught to play the ball wide and that makes it harder.  Fields reward a more direct style of play.

SR is very underrated as far as FBR.  They are a top team.  

Rush will have a long tourney but it at leasts shows them what level of play they need to get to.

Every game we (LP Barnes) has played against SRSA, either team could have won it. Even the first time we played and we won 5-2, the game could easily have been a tie, our gk just played out of her skin that day. They deserve to be at least level with us, wherever that is.

The big difference is JM has dd's on the 01 and 06 team.  Those are the girls teams he coaches.  Those are the flagship teams.  The little club is growing and you cant control other coaches decisions.  The 05 team was Wizards, then Kicks and now Sting Central.  The 06 team is coached by JM who started the club.  Big difference between 06 and 05.  The 06 team will be like the 01 team with two 06 teams with a second team to develop and eventually push for spots on the top team.  It will be the 01s all over again.

Okay,

I guess my next question is, does JM have more DD's and are they 07, 08 ages ? I would want to be on a kicks team that is considered a flag ship team.

The thing that makes Kicks special is JM's system and vision of the club. Regardless if he is the coach of the team, his system and style is what makes Kicks what it is.
The 07 team is definitely a special group. As well as the 08's.
The 13's are a promising group as well.
