'04 Girls FBR Rankings - 12-03-13 Empty '04 Girls FBR Rankings - 12-03-13

Post by Guest 03/12/13, 09:18 pm

Current Rankings include game results from 8/17/13 through Present Date.  Tournament results from the weekend of 8/9-8/11/13 were dropped from the history this week.

Weekly Disclaimer:

1)  Liverpool '04 RASE is the de-facto #1 '04 girls team in NTX (unbeaten against any '04 NTX girls team for >1 year).  They are not included in the FBR at this time due to a lack of games played against '04 girls opponents in the past 16 weeks

With all respect to you I think this ranking is totally worthless and only creates a bad concept on people that doesn't have knowledge about soccer and how a player should develop. I totally agree that there are a lot of excellent teams like Liverpool but at this age group this is not important. I can assure you that all current stars will be challenged by the late bloomers in about a year.

True, but I think these rankings are more for fun than anything, everyone knows how they work and that teams, in general, will have guests, new players, players leave, etc.  It gives parents an idea of where they may want to have their kiddo try out for the best competition and possibly the best training.  I think it give parents more of an educated guess as to where they want to take their kiddo to try out for the upcoming select transition.  So much movement will take place over the course of the next 6 months but within the top 10 or so teams is where you'll see the most movement as parents transition their kiddos from one tier to another looking for that competitive edge.  Not saying all parents are like that, but quite a few in the upper teams are and will be moving around I'm sure.  So you need to think of these FBR rankings as kind of a guide for parents to make educated guesses for the best competition not necessarily worrying about who has the biggest stars on the team.

I don't think the rankings are worthless as they do give a general idea of where a team currently is. This can help coaches, tourney directors, etc.., determine where their team should play in leagues and tournaments. If used right and not manipulated, it can also give a decent idea of if a team is regressing or progressing.

I don't think however that it should be used solely to determine where to send your DD to develop. I moved my DD to a more local team that was ranked higher on FBR where she started and played the whole game, but for whatever reason, she didn't develop as well even though they seemed to be a pretty well coached team. Moved her back, because IMO her developing as a player and person is most important.

I agree but what make you think that the information is accurate. I know for a fact about 1 team that finish second place in a tournament and the result was not included and I'm sure there will be a few more like that.

You must be new here. Welcome to the boards.

FBR does not give weight to any single event, but is a collection of games played against similar competition and their opponents over time.

FBR is extremely accurate. In fact, for the past 2-3 years it has predicted within 87-90% accuracy how teams end up after LH qualifying tournament when they first go select.

I'm fairly new in this forum but not in the world of soccer since I have an older son playing Academy level with one of the big clubs so I know what I'm talking about. and just to mention an example 04 FCD Dallas Predator won a tournament a few week a go and still not recorded on this list, I can give you a few more examples. So I think this not accurate.

Which tournament, was it against NTX teams or out of town because I don't think those are included. BWG has usually been pretty good about getting scores into the system but he can only input the ones he knows about.

If you notice a mistake or omission you can always let BW know and it will be checked on rather quickly.

So do you think the ranking "is totally worthless becuase it creates a bad concept on people that doesn't have knowledge about soccer and how a player should develop" or do you think it is worthless because it is "inaccurate?"

A little of both, let me give you an eye opener, if you are planning on follow the ECNL path this is not the information that you need to use to make your decision, why? some teams on the top 20 does not have a ECNL program.

The polls are definitely not completely accurate, but they are as close as you'll get to accurate. It is remarkable to see how closely they mirrored the LHGCL seeding for the 03's going into Select this year. We can't even get the BCS rankings right, so I applaud the efforts of someone being able to pretty accurately rank 9-10 year old Academy players. Is anyone ever satisfied with their ranking outside of #1?

So at U10 my daughter and I should start worrying about ECNL?  That is an eye-opener!

NTXPARENT88 is referring to the Aces tourney in which the FCD Predators won the silver bracket. I don't believe BW records games against an 05 team.

But this isn't a ranking of academy clubs that have older ECNL clubs. These are the top (according to FBR) academy clubs from all clubs. ECNL is still a few years away, and many girls that are playing for LP or other independents may play for ECNL just as most FCD, DT, Feet, Solar, Sting will not play ECNL.

Yes this is it, and why not if the age group is U10(04) and all the teams were 04 but that one is not FCD fault that an 05 team made it to the final.

That is the tourney he is referring to. In the early Nov rankings, they were 2-14-1. The tourney was Nov 15-17. The rankings that came out on the 19th have their record as 5-14-2. Their tournament record was 3-0-1 (Wins, losses, draws). Do the math.....What do you know... they are included.

I think he is upset that winning a silver division tournament and winning 33% of their games, they are only ranked 30ish.

No it was in town give me a few minutes to ask my DD and I get back with the exact info
A little of both, let me give you an eye opener, if you are planning on follow the ECNL path this is not the information that you need to use to make your decision, why? some teams on the top 20 does not have a ECNL program.
Wait, so your daughter plays for FC Dallas in hopes she makes the ECNL team at U14? Let me guess she is in the JD "PRE" ECNL program too right? Have I told you about the ocean front property in AZ I have for sell? I will make you a heck of a deal, I hear it is great for Sand Soccer (Which I am sure will improve her chances as well of making the ECNL team in 4 years). drunken

When he said I will ask my DD for the details, he meant, he will ask his "friends" DD about the details for her team apparently, since she doesn't play for FCD Predator.

My DD is not part of this group and is even if she was is nothing wrong with that, I prefer my DD playing all the time with a lower level team than be part of a top level team and playing 5 or 6 min each half. The most of the times the one on the lower level team end up better player.

I hope is not your case.
