Never too early to think about next year Empty Never too early to think about next year

At this age group, a few girls are already in High School, while most will make the transition this summer.

How will that affect Club Soccer participation for 00G next year?

If you have an older DD who went through this, what happened?

Can we expect some DDs to take a break to focus on academics and school sports?

Can we expect some DDs to quit Club altogether and focus on underwater basketweaving?

Can we expect some DDs to "double down" on soccer and "move up" to higher division / ECNL teams for college recruiting purposes?

Can we expect some teams to have a numbers issue, resulting in consolidation and foldage especially at the lower divisions?

Please elucidate and prognosticate.

The LHGCL teams will always make their roster numbers without any problem. Those teams that play in Plano and Arlington may start to have numbers issues though. Most of the players who play in LH will do both select and HS. That does not mean that everyone will follow that same path.

For many girls this year as eighth graders they are already feeling the pinch between school sports, and select soccer and other school activities. Next year will just be more intense with school grades and sports and other activities.

As Armanji said, LH teams will be able to keep their teams filled just as they did this year. The difficulty for LH teams will be bringing their games back up with new players. The quality of play will be impacted more than the numbers. They will be able to pull from Plano and Arlington teams.

Can we expect some DDs to take a break to focus on academics and school sports? Yes, some of the vacancies will be caused by academics, school sports and other outside activities such as cheerleading, dance, etc.

Can we expect some DDs to quit Club altogether and focus on underwater basketweaving? Actually, I have heard that Keller, Grapevine and Southlake have made this a required course, so definitely this could be a problem. This may be outweighed by the interpretive dance classes however.

Can we expect some DDs to "double down" on soccer and "move up" to higher division / ECNL teams for college recruiting purposes? Yes, this is always a factor. If your DD wants to play in college and hopes to get a scholarship, her best bet is to be on a top team that will be seen by college coaches.

Can we expect some teams to have a numbers issue, resulting in consolidation and foldage especially at the lower divisions?
I would say that there could be (as there always is) a loss of some D3 teams, however they will be replaced in QT.

There is my elucidation and prognostication.  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

My dd is going into her high school year this fall and she has no signs of quiting soccer any time soon. lol I definitely look forward to see her play for her high school. I am curious as to how early college soccer recruiting starts?..
