Hey if Scott falls apart there are a few scotties that can always come home. Oh and there are a few left footies who can join the party too. Better get my cherry picker out of the garage might be a busy summer

Hmmm, Stark cherry picking like Scott used to do!
That's 'Johnny Soccer' to you. Cherry picking much easier than developing his own. Speaking of, Pulp's efforts yielding similar results?

Sure, Pulp is cherry picking. Nothing wrong with it when Stark and Pulp, or any coach is starting up a new team. How else do you get a team?

completely agree. IMO, LW, Clark, Missimo, Drake, and Solca are some of the better coaches at developing teams from the ground floor. Then you have the opposite end of the spectrum with coaches like Kennington, Scott and a handful of Sting coaches who build teams at the expense of others

So recruiting and pooling together the top talent to make a dominant team within the age group really "developing teams from the ground floor"?

Gonna come to the defense of king kenny here. I have always thought his teams are well coached. Don't agree with his use of tactics and his insanity has caused some team to fall apart but I would accuse him of not being able to coach. Don't really know much about scott but recruiting is the texan way.
That being said, If you aren't bringing in talent there is usually a reason why. Either the coach is so loyal and checked by the parents that he is affraid too or its a hostile enviornment to outsiders or nobody is interested because your teams soccer isn't that good so he is stuck with what he has. Can't make chiken salad out of chicken poop. Unless chicken poop is all you have.

I can name 5 but they say we're not supposed to post names or numbers on this forum... it's indirect, the coach does no formal recruiting of his own, the parents do it all... you know the old word of mouth subtle recruiting / sales tool? Or shall we call it Network Marketing? Either way, the parents talk to a friend and says, "your daughter is a hell of an athlete, you should bring her over to XXXXX practice and check it out". Meanwhile, said team / coach is pulling out all the stops to make the practice look all functional and stuff and the parents get all glassy-eyed and think, "man, this team has it together, they work on [skills, passing, field recognition, etc.] more than our team ever did." So by the essence of true recruiting, not too many coaches do that, but the active parents out there do and aren't even ashamed of it in most aspects. And really, why should they be unless it unseats their own kid from the team. The act of "word of mouth" marketing for your team isn't a bad thing, it brings in the talent for the coach to evaluate. Nothing more. My DD was subject to the same thing by LFS, was accepted to the team and then the revolving door started where there were 20 new kids trying out each week. No recruiting by JK himself at all, in fact, his communication skills leave something to be desired so I doubt he has the wherewithal to do any true recruiting. However, many savvy parents out there are willing to take care of that for him. Recruiting? NO. Network Marketing your team? YES.

But was that recruiting or just really good parent marketing with a nice "close" by the coach?

Those practices aren't staged for parents. You can go out there any night of the week and see that that's how they go.SoccerShocker wrote:slrsoccer wrote:soccerjunk - please name one player that LFS has pulled from another team in the last 12 months. As far as the player who left and went to Scott, I don't know who mentioned it, she left on her own and went to Scott on her own.
Sour grapes?? Maybe because your DD wasn't picked up by Joey.

I think most have heard about the nice "close" with LFS coach and parent which usually results in the team leaving! Agree! Wretched affair!
