why 13 y/o girl soccer is so much better than the world cup

1. 13y/o girls soccer is non stop running in the world cup everyone is stand walking or falling
2. The weather in 13yo girls soccer they play from 10 to 110 degrees and the wind. We have played game's in 50 mph winds where keepers are punting goal to goal and who ever has the wind last usually wins
3. Flops doesn't happen in girls soccer/ world cup every 30 secs.
4.Penalties I've seen girls pushed in the back with 2 arms and go down and no call in the world cup if 1 finger touches them they are down flopping and trying to get a yellow or red card.
5.13 y/o girls will do anything for their teammates world cup is just a job

Yes, but the fields are a little better in World Cup than UTD #4, 5 or Chinn Chapel. That's gotta be worth something.

The refereeing has been about the same....

That makes the girl games more exciting its like playing on a battle field with sand pits and bobby traps

You'll have a lot more free time than me during the next month. You can watch baseball or do some gardening or go to the gym. I'll be watching the World Cup.

It takes 2 weeks to play 3 games. NTX tourneys do that in a matter of 5 hours.

What I can't understand is why the US can't make 3 consecutive passes before losing the ball.  
I can't tell my DD to look at them as an example of ball movement.  However they're a great example of what not to do.

I thought the passing was atrocious also. That and trying over and over to attack when the opportunity just wan't there. I shudder to think what Germany will do to us if it doesn't get better.

dd#4 was given the assignment to watch the game for discussion at practice tonight. Was interesting.. on top of the bad passing we saw a lot more north Texas long ball (the aimless kind, not the strategic ones that work out) and big Bertha defense hail Marys than I anticipated. (I could just hear all the north Tx parents yell "WooWhooo nice kick!!" in my head every time)

I thought it funny when Norm on the ticket stated that in the beautiful game, there was nothing beautiful about the US performance last night, but it was a beautiful outcome. Not a big Norm fan, but thought it funny that someone I assume doesn't watch a lot of soccer pick up on that.

I got the same impression that Cobra kai had...you have to give a little credit to ghana...they were extremely fast to the ball and pressuring everything...US seemed content on protecting the very early lead once Jozy went out (he was going to be a big part of everything the US did at this world cup so I hope he comes back)... bend don't break approach...bottom line is they needed three in this game they got three...and Germany killing Portugal helped their chances a lot in making it out of this group...

I didn't get the impression they were trying to protect the lead. It looked like Ghana was giving them space in the backfield to move the ball around, especially in the first half, but it seemed like the US didn't have the patience to move the ball, just go direct all the time, and Ghana is a tough team to go direct against.

Why do the world cup keepers jump in the air and can never land back on their feet and why are people cramping up over there. Can you imagine if they had to play 3 games in 2 days at the lake highland qualifier in 105 degree heat

Here's how you beat the US.  
Pressure the ball and they'll just kick the ball into space. They don't have players checking to the ball to relieve pressure.  So, Pressure, Pressure, Pressure!

This topic is such a joke. True, the US looked completely outmatched against Ghana because Ghana was better. Plain and simple. Ghana also tied top-ranked Germany, so they have the ability to make a good team look average (or bad, in the case of the US). But how about yesterday? For 2/3 of the game, the US was superior to another top-ranked team - Portugal. Excellent midfield possession, perfect through-balls to the right wing area, amazing goal keeping, and Clint Dempsey. I'd say the US guys are coming along nicely.

13-year old girls soccer? Are you kidding? Just about every ball is cleared out of the back. Almost none of them have the guts to head a ball into the goal. The whole game is slow-slow-slow. And it's loaded with cheap shots from start to finish. Yes, diving sucks to watch, but a disrespect for a more skilled opponent is even worse.

Bottom line, our young female athletes all the way through the ranks of the WNT are playing the same "style" that they were playing 15 years ago: Hit the opponent, kick the ball in opposite direction more often than not, and try to get it to the few who can score. At least the US men are showing improvement.
