Purple Cobras in need of a GK. Cheap and no practices!

The Purple Cobras are preparing for our second year in Plano Premier League's lowest division (we plan to skip qualifying again and go straight to the lowest possible level they can offer us), and we're in need of a goalie. Sadly, our current GK is moving to Colorado. We try to practice once or twice before the fall and spring seasons (if we can), but don't feel the need to practice during the season -- too much other stuff going on. We're also very understanding of girls missing games -- it happens, and just more playing time for everyone else. Our lack of motivation and professionalism is reflected in the cost. We divide league and registration fees by the number of players on the team -- plus uniforms. The girls have a lot of fun (we won our last game of the season 7-5), and we're not half bad (most of the players have played in LHGCL at some point). As coach, I mostly just sit on the bench and let the girls do their thing. I occasionally make supportive or sarcastic comments, and sometimes I use a fake foreign accent for emphasis. Most of the girls left club soccer because of the time commitment, but still enjoy the game and didn't want to play recreational, so this is a good alternative. It also allows them to get some touches before HS soccer starts. Oh yeah -- we likely won't play in any tournaments because we know that all of the D1 college coaches will probably just come to us...

Too bad you guys don't play in PYA...that way my dd could play GK for you and stay on her current team.

  

Still need a GK! We've got 17 field players who don't want to throw on a pinnie and alternate in goal! Give me a shout if you know of a GK who is looking...

This has to be one of the best threads I have read in a long, long time.

  

C'mon people! Someone out there has to know of a GK or former GK who wants to play at a low level and not get in front of any college coaches!

Last year's motto was:

PPLD4 -- It doesn't get any lower than this!   

Didn't work out with the "new" GK -- I guess she couldn't take the low expectations and lack of pressure...

I actually thought this was someone's cute attempt at a joke but this is a real post from a real team.  Wow!  Good luck finding that keeper.  From looking at your PPL record, you are right that you guys aren't half bad in PPLD4.  The original post and comments made me laugh and when I realized it wasn't a joke, I started ROTFLMAO.

I was going to ask you if you guys had plans to do any pre-season training or if you knew where my dds team could do some...I am having the hardest time finding anything that would help us out.

Oh, and best of luck finding that GK. I am rooting for you guys...and none of my 3 would fit the bill for you or we would come see you...did I mention that I am a lead bassist.

Since were all so eagerly awaiting LHGCL to post the schedule for round 2 and have nothing else to do....

There have only been 2 posts that I remember quite well:
1.  "10sdad" ...and his coming unglued and everyone hammering him  
2.  and this Post........SO what is the update???  You guys still around?

ROFL - this is a must read. Thanks for pointing this out yesterday when nothing else was happening. I wanna grow up to be this coach!

Sadly, the Cobras have reached the end of the soccer road.  We had a blast for two years, and I've never had so much fun coaching in my life.  The girls are all seniors this year and wanted to focus on college visits, boyfriends, and just enjoying a really important year in their lives without having to worry about soccer -- even if it was only games!  And I wasn't exactly thrilled at the thought of all the NTSSA, PYSA, and GotSoccer paperwork involved in getting a team registered again.  Next time you see your DD's team manager, give them a hug...

My 3 DDs are done with "The Beautiful Game"  - I find myself sad and relieved at the same time.
