Yes, academy players are not bound to contract. They can move freely throughout the year from club to club and from team to other team within a club, which is very popular,.

Yup. Academy is pretty much a free-for-all. You are never "registered" with a club. You can play for as many different academy teams as you want, as long as you are willing to pay whatever fees each club wants to charge you.

The only issue you would run into is if the different teams from the different clubs signed up to play in the same division of the same league, or the same tournament.

For teams who play in a US Club Soccer league (SDL and PrimeTime), players are registered through the team account.  Come tournament time, US Club Soccer Player Loan Forms are required if you are playing with a different US Club Soccer team, but not on their US Club Soccer official roster.
