05G Plano Labor Day Tournament 2014

The Plano Labor Day Invitational Tournament has been a Plano Youth Soccer tradition since 1980.  The tournament is one of the most prestigious competitive youth soccer tournaments in the Southwest, and hosts  about 750 competitive and academy teams from Texas and around the country.  

August 29, 2014 - September 1, 2014

Open to Competitive League Select (S1, S2, S3) boys and girls U11-U19 teams, and U9-U10 Academy teams affiliated with US Soccer (USSF).  Includes US Youth Soccer (USYSA) affiliates (state/local home associations) and US Club Soccer.  Recreational teams are not permitted.

Entry Fee $325 (U9-U10) and $600 (U11-U19)

Application and Payment Deadlines:

8/10/2014 application deadline for U11-U19 (payment received NLT 8/11/2014)

8/13/2014 application deadline for U9-U10 (payment received NLT 8/14/2014)

Heard they are over 21 teams registered and paid in the 05 age group already and expect it will grow quickly between now and 13th (the official deadline)

Tough schedules in Gold.

It is interesting that LP Gerard and FCD Hanlon wound up in Silver.  They are both Platinum CFBAL teams.

Seems to me a 12 - 12 - 8 split would make more sense, and perhaps be more interesting, if they really need three separate flights.

As it is 6 of 8 teams will "advance" in Gold and 8 of 10 in Silver B, which considerably minimizes the importance of group play.

I guess this format allows teams to overcome one really bad performance group play though.

I agree.  I was surprised to see 8-14-10.  I expected either 12-12-8 or 12-8-12.

It looks like only 8 teams wanted to play Gold. I would assume they just put teams where they requested.

I really doubt those teams signed up for silver...nice try to start drama again!

Supposedly, even a couple of teams that wanted to be moved up from where they were placed weren't allowed to...guess the scheduler has to put everyone somewhere...at least as best they can.  

The scheduler/TD has a tough job.  Will still be a great tournament.  

Too bad every DD doesn't get a trophy... to fill that empty space in their trophy case.

Yeah, I noticed that. Looks like Sting Dallas Finally got them their Top team. Sucks for Sting Central I guess. Congrates to Coach Diaz. I think the Sting Black label is what Sting is putting on their top teams now.
