Agree about Sting Blue, they are not the same team and after seeing their coach throw a tantrum on the field I can see why... Shocked

Do tell. Did she kick a ball into the air and run off the field again?

Anarchy, your top 5 couldn't be more wrong.

The top 5 teams in this exact are:

1. Hyypia
2. Pulp
3. Diaz
4. DTS
5. Aztecs

Let's see if anybody can get it right why she was upset. Rather than blindly posting something like... "Re: sting blue...what's new? That's standard operating procedure. Don't understand how people deal with that nonsense."

This is only rumor bc I wasn't there, but my guess on the reason she punted the ball after the game is immaturity. Now there could be other reasons like bad refs or a losing outcome, but I'm going with option A.

Informed as usual? Not. Ah rumors. There wasn't even a kicked ball. How about trying to get the other team to go straight to Pk's, because it was too hot and the field was larger (field originally not in play during PLDT) than the others because there was a backlog on the field they were scheduled to play on. Think I like a coach that is looking out for the safety of our daughter's (and who has taken a team DI, unlike many in the 05 division). Hell, the ref's weren't even giving them a water break between regulation and extra time.

So if this is the game you went into pk's then you won right? So, Garrett still acted like a babbling baboon. Typical

Just to clarify, the kicked ball rumor happened in cfbal play. Doesn't change the fact it's a rumor, but the visual has me laughing hysterically every time I think of it.

D’Feeters - are solid but seem to have taken a step back. Agree lot of coach movement but they have added good talent from other top teams and should be progressing. I think we are all expecting more from them at this stage.

Rush - based on comments you are clearly DD parent.  Great team but had to go into penalty kicks to beat Scarfone??  For chemistry, I saw a couple games and you must not have been there for all their games especially for Pulp game. I think they had 9 coaches on the field and one with just really bad attitude all together.

Aztecs - Seems other talent in league is catching up to their standout players.  Hope to see more of them in year to come.

Solar A – agree and your comment on Feet applies here…”at top level need better ball movement” ….need to do better of feeding up from mid and across the front line.

Diaz Goalkeeper comment….you need to get out and see Hypia.  By far best goalie in age group.

For Hypia, not sure why they chose to pass on this tournament when it clearly was the showcase of the top teams in 05.  Was there some concern of disrupting their ranking?  I guess this Friday will show a lot about where they are.  Also, they played 1-0 against Solar Abbott first week.  Sign of what to come of Hypia or strengthening of Abbott?  To be seen I guess.

Lots of first-time posters today.  That means there are a lot of things to say about the tournament.  I thought it was a great weekend with some really great games in the Gold division... aside from some of the field conditions of course.  The only other complaint is how the wild card teams were ranked because it kept play within the same brackets and that was unfortunate.

OK I have to add my take on the tournament's teams:

D’Feeters - with what looks to be a coaching transition towards next year and the addition of some faces from other top teams, the disorganization and confusion could be expected.  But the loss to Sting Scarfone was a surprise and a step back.  The other results to Solar Pulp and Rush were not bad.  Their top talent will keep them where they are today and we will see how they come together.

Rush – this is a pretty vocal group of girls that talk a lot during games so I don't put much into the chemistry comments.  It is still a talented team but I think the turnover they have experienced is hurting them and will continue to.  There were times that I saw them with either 1 or 2 players on the bench and that had to play a factor in the heat.  They definitely have their own style of play and there have been questions about how it will translate going forward, we will just have to see.

Lady Aztecs – they are definitely a top 5 team and had a good tournament.  They won the bracket over Sting Diaz and had some good results until meeting up with their kryptonite, Solar Pulp.  I am not sure they have enough to actually overtake the other 4 teams in the top 5 but they are talented and fast.  It will be great to see them play a full season against the other Platinum teams.

Solar Abbott – there is no question that this team is strong in the back.  I agree with others that ball movement is a problem.  But with that said they are always competitive and rarely have losses by more than 2 goals.  In fact it is hard to find one in their GotSoccer history once you get passed the 3-0 from yesterday.  They are definitely in the 6-10 area to stay and like others that have the ball movement problem, it will come.  That is not a bad area to be deficient in.

Sting Diaz - this is the #2 team in my humble opinion.  They are skilled, play a great style and have a roster full of steady talent.  They are consistent so you always know what you are going to get from them.  I personally find the aggressiveness (what others see as toughness) a little excessive but given the sackless refs that patrol the games in NTX, they get away with it and use it to their advantage.  They had a really good tournament and took the #1 team to extra periods before losing on a defensive breakdown.

Sting Parsons - I am not sure what has happened to this team.  They had a great Spring season against top talent and showed a lot of improvement but seem to be struggling of late.  I do not know enough about the roster to know if they lost players but they are taking beatings that they seemed to be putting behind them as the Spring rolled on.  They have some talent so let's see if this has just been a rough summer or a sign of things to come.

Sting Scarfone - Thunderlipz nailed this one as the surprise of the tournament.  They beat Feet and played really tough in their losses.  They play a very defensive style of play and rely on the counterattack so it is not the most impressive way to play the game but it worked this weekend and is a great way to start the Fall.  They have definitely cracked back into the top 10 so we will see how far they can move.

Solar Pulp - it is hard to argue with them being the #1 team so I put them there on my list.  The game this Friday could end the arguments for a while so I am looking forward to that.  This team moved the ball better than any team in the tournament and took care of business.  Congrats to Solar Pulp!

Others:

Hyypia - they should have played in PLD.  Friday is a big game to show where they sit in 1-4.

DT South AKA "Big Foot" - I think this is the last of the top 5 but I am not sure if they really exist.  Smile

SoccerAdvice2Go wrote:Diaz vs Aztecs was the game of the tournament but congratulations to Pulp.  They played terrific.

Lady Aztecs – Solid team. Good skills. Missed to many goal opportunities. Will be tough competition throughout season.

Sting Diaz –  Best all-around skilled team. Played very aggressive.  Fun to watch.  Have one or two top players. Will compete for top team.

Solar Abbott –  Welcome to the big leagues. Played respectable for first time battling the big guns.  Weak at goalie or games would have been closer.
YOU CLEARLY DIDNT SEE THE SCORES ALL THE GAMES WERE CLOSE EXCEPT THE QUARTER FINAL AGAINST DIAZ!

Sting Parsons – Still work to be done to compete at this level.  A couple of solid players. Maybe coach can convince players on bench from top Sting teams to switch.

Solar Pulp – Very strong team.  Great skills with girls able to play all over the field without any disruption.  Deserved to win.

Sting Scarfone –improving team but will be tough to compete and win against Top 10.  Clearly far distance to Diaz with player talent.

Rush Voutier – Some solid players but no “team” spirit. Clear areas of weakness to compete for top spot but definitely top 10 team.

D’Feeters – Surprisingly not very impressive.  Expected this team to be more competitive.  Lots of work to do. Looked like took the summer off.

I agree with most of what TB said. We will have to agree to disagree on the Diaz aggressiveness. They play clean. At times you could state that some if not all the top 5 teams get a little overly aggressive at times, but it's clean aggression in my opinion. The top teams are going to battle and get heated at times, just the way it is.

A little rebuttal for SA2GO. I have seen the Hyypia keeper several times and I will say she is darn good! They are close in talent, but you must have missed the Diaz v pulp game. The Diaz keeper was Great and definitely made an impact on the game. I don't know if you saw the Diaz v Abbott game either, Diaz keeper almost scored on a punt, I believe the Diaz Forward just tapped it in the goal. Remarkable for a 9 year old keeper.

Post by banana kick 03/09/14, 09:10 am

First, it was a great weekend of soccer, and I really enjoyed watching the girls compete.

While there are a lot of top shelf teams in the 05 age group, there does appear to be a pretty clear top 6 or so.  I see it like this, at least at the moment:

1. Solar Pulp -- deserving of the top spot based on recent results.  Perhaps Hyypia will have something to say about this on Friday.
2. Liverpool Hyypia -- haven't played many of the top teams recently -- that's soon to change -- but unless they've lost key players, I can't drop them beyond this.
3. Sting Black (Diaz) -- again, based on recent results, this is where they belong.
4. DT South -- I'm honestly struggling with this one; like TB suggested, they might as well be a myth at this point.  Needless to say, I haven't seen them play a game in almost a year, but I did hear they beat Lady Aztecs in the Spring, so here they sit.  Still, until they choose to play the other top teams, this is only a guess.
5. Lady Aztecs -- solid group with good results this weekend
6. Dallas Rush Voutier -- see above

7. Sting Scarfone -- based on this weekend, how can I rank them any lower?  Like another poster suggested, it isn't always pretty, but they're proving tough to score on.
8. D'Feeters -- a very talented group but mired in a bit of a funk; simply haven't found the net recently.
9. Solar Abbott -- defensively, very solid, but, like the two teams above them, they struggle to score.

I'm honestly not sure where to go from here -- several quality teams could make a case for the final top ten spot -- Sting Central Parsons, FC Dallas Hanlon, Liverpool Gerrard, (insert your DD's team here).

I agree Banana, there are several teams working very hard to secure the 10-15 spot - should be a fun season!

True sting is very deep in the 05 age group and everyone knows Sting is home for me BUT giving props where earned I heard a rumor and decided to check it out for myself.

Can anyone remember the last time a top girls team played so close to the #1 boys team?

Not even the mighty RASE 04s pulled this off. Looks like DTS 05 is VERY real after all.
