Age Question

I am aware of the NTX rule that a player cannot play up on a U11 select soccer team. Is this also the case when the player is in the same grade as these girls? My daughter began kindergarten a year early so she is ahead one grade based on her age. She also plays up on her soccer team due to her skill level, but also so she plays with kids in her own grade. Any help would be appreciated.

Correct. Grade has no bearing it is 100% her birthday. Born 7/31/2005 and you go select next July, born 8/1/2005 and your going to wait 1 more year. No way around it.

Grade year in school does not matter for determining soccer age group.

The first year of select (U11) / last year of academy (U10) is where playing up cannot happen. Players have to be in the U11 age group (by soccer year) to play select this year. That means turning 11 between 8/1/14 and 7/31/15.

An academy player can play up to another academy age group - an 8-year-old with 9-year-olds for example. A select player can play up to an older select group. But a player who is academy age by date of birth cannot play up on a select team.

Over the years, we have always had 1 or 2 of these each year. (boys side too).. You will have to find a team to sit on for a year.. If your u11 team registers as a US Club team for certain tournaments, you will be able to guest play, but that is it..

The age charts in TX are actually only one month apart, school and soccer.

You wont get any closer match in any other state...

My daughter's birthday is in November, and started Kindergarten at the age of 4. She is extremely smart so we didn't want her to be bored. She is an '08 playing on an '07 team as a center mid. I guess we will just find a killer boys '08 team for her to play on for a year when the time comes until she can rejoin her normal team and like soccer sounder said maybe guest play in some tournaments.

No, she plays on a competitive '07 team which is where she will stay until they go select.

Jeaton, don't worry about it today. 3 years to go, before the 07s go Select. Your DD may end up on a top 08 team by then, the rule could change by then, I almost expect another US Club League to come in and knock LHGCL down another notch by then myself, anyway..

Most people don't realize it, but a new US Club League almost started 3 years ago and again last year.

It would be easy for US Club to take the 5 ECNL Clubs and 10 other so-called "Next 10 top Clubs. 5 ECNL second teams plus the top two teams from the other 10 Clubs =25.. Let them qualify the 1st year for the top 20 spots (D1 & D2) and top 2 bottom two relegation after that... Anything that adds exclusiveness to the Clubs would make them very interested.. Add in a mid-year National Showcase (maybe some ECNL cross-over) and a end of year National Championship and it would be a done deal... US Club is already on the ground with good relationships at ECNL & SDL. And almost all of the local Tourneys have started to accept US Club Rosters for out of town and NOW LOCAL rosters.
