Hazing at New Mexico Womens Soccer coming to Texas
Hazing at New Mexico Womens Soccer coming to Texas

According to Albuquerque news station KOB, several members of the New Mexico women’s soccer team are alleging brutal hazing on the eve of the 2014 season. Among the allegations, players allegedly “were forced to strip naked, consume large amounts of alcohol and were sprayed with urine,” according to the report. One ended up in the hospital.
You can read more of the report above, but here’s an interesting snippet from the article: New Mexico doesn’t have anti-hazing laws. That could be changing soon. New Mexico is slated to open the regular season on Aug. 22, and just a month ago it received the largest donation in program history.
KOB is not naming the alleged victims, and a UNM Athletic Department spokesperson said all members of the team are being interviewed.
44 U.S. states have passed some sort of anti-hazing law, with punishments specifically for hazing incidents.
New Mexico is one of six states without an anti-hazing law.
A spokesman for UNM Athletics told KOB Monday night the women’s team has an exhibition game in Texas this weekend, but would not say if any of the women wouldn’t be playing.

I thought being sprayed by urine was the same in any language, that of love and acceptance. I remember playing at away grounds in the early 80s in England and going to take corner kicks and the opposing fans would throw bags of urine at you. This was actually better than being pelted by coins. Which in turn was better than being welcomed by the 'brown sandwich' at throw-ins. Some grounds allowed you to bring your own food. Hence, sandwiches might get thrown at you. Not filled with chocolate.

Yep, we were in the old D2 before the Premier League days and Middlesborough dipped in and out there from D1. Pretty sure we (Cambridge Utd) must have played them at some point.
