Anyone here hear any grumblings? Would make for some lively discussions if it happened.

I say go calendar year, cause mine are January and March birth months. Haha

Easy solution, start calendar year birth dates at u-8 if you are wanting to change. Other than that you will need to leave all others at least those who have started select the same. Done

It was calendar year when I was a kid. Why did it change?

I believe the change was made to help girls and boys with the August-December birth dates the ability to compete. Just like holding your student back a year to ensure she is the oldest in class.

I don't get it. Some kids will always be younger or older.

the current split year model is used to allow for kids on teams to "generally" be in the same grade. no one established this system to give aug-dec birthdates a competitive advantage lol. "soccer year", your DD's will have benefited greatly by competing against aug-dec girls when they do go to a birth year format later in soccer career. it will be like playing down when they compete against the younger aug-dec girls in their new group

I think they need to follow the school calender in my opinion (Sept 1st) as the cut off date. I say this because my dd is Aug 5th. She started school right at 5yr old because academically/socially she was ready. She is an '02 soccer bday wise but all her team mates are 7th grader & she is the only 8th grader. She doesn't care about that but it does cause an issue now that we are approaching show case time frame. A discussion we have been having with her current coach as to when to make the transition to the '01 age bracket. She is not about that at all. She loves her team and her coach and doesn't want to move but she does want to play collegiate soccer.
