Kick It 3v3 Tournament Dec. 13-14

Anyone playing in the Kick It 3v3 tournament this weekend? If so, what bracket level? Should be some good competition.

Other age groups list had open or elite listed by them in the division list email but the 06 group did not.   Just one 06 group in the email all nine of those teams listed together

To my knowledge and from my experience I feel that both teams are amoung the best nationally. Both teams have some of the top 3 v 3 players nationally. Both teams are deserving. In saying this you cannot discount the other teams, NTX soccer is the real deal.

Why do people talk bout 3V3 so much in NTX? I never see a good discussion about futsol. I am just curious about what is everyones opinion....

both are fun tools for development. One is recognized world wide though. Ill leave it at that.

Agree with Bo, both are staples for development. All great things start typically small in soccer, even at the professional level with usually a combination play between 2-3 players connecting on 2-3 passes within 10 yards of one another. Both platforms emphasize more precise touches, agility, foot speed, managing first touch, along with the highest demands of decision making and posessing the physcial attributes to execute them.
Most world powers in the sport strictly train and compete interclub until almost 13 to 14, as opposed to the "win now" "big field" movement we unfortunately have in the US.

Andromeda hosted a 208 team 3 v 3 tourney this past weekend! Real Soccer Center, The Pitch are all opening within the year that creates more facilities to host, train, and develop via small sided matches! Small sided is HUGE and only getting bigger which is great for the development of all of our players.

Kick It, Live, Quickfoot, Challenger are all national 3 v 3 tours that encompass nearly the entire country. They host more than 200 tourneys annually and more than 1000 06G teams. When you can combine this type of development with national implications, and end up at Disney it is a great experience for the kids!

I would like to see some of the other bigger clubs host a 3 v 3 tourney like Andromeda did to involve all of their teams for development, and not to mention $150 x 208 teams=$31,200. Not a bad lil fundraiser to fill the club coffer!

FIFA takes over the Women's Futsal World Cup next year. The US Youth National futsal squads have just recently gotten started. Futsal regionals and National tourneys have grown. Whispers of something big coming to NTX in March...

Me personally, ill stick around Futsal. Different strokes for different folks.

Thank you for sharing, great stuff! Glad to see large US/Global governing soccer bodies getting involved in both futsal and 3 v 3. We are lucky to have lots of training, development, and competitive platforms in NTX. Hope everyone gets in!

US Youth Futsal has also added ID Camps. A player must be recommended for the ID Camp by a coach. These are gateways into the US Youth Futsal National pools.

I know last year we had a good number of NTX players from 01s - 05s identified and invited in. An 05 is part of the U12 National pool. She will be playing later this month in Barcelona with the U11 boys at the World Futsal Cup hosted by Barcelona.

I don't think Futsal can really take off unless NCAA accept it.

It is a different animal, most people from Futsal side praise how much it will help soccer, however no body mentions the drawbacks, in reality most of good futsal player will feel hardship in the soccer field.

Someone once mentioned that futsal will develop your tight game in traffic, but hinders distributing midfielders because it gets you looking down at feet and not up. Sounded reasonable but who knows...

Watch a futsal match, its not head down dribbling.

Its also now part of US Soccer curriculum. So for any DDs and BBs with thoughts of ODP and/or DA Academy they will see futsal intermingled with their training.

City Futsal hosts the ODP portion for our region.

Futsal is good stuff, the only major drawback is the price-tag.

Its a great training tool and should be apart of every aspiring young players developement, but be careful with thinking it is all that is needed. It's a good tool to building an all around player.

I agree with sho nuff, the cost is getting a little to much.

The cost of futsal right now is driven by supply and demand. A lot of the indoor venues say they have futsal, but they don't. One we played in last winter still allowed the players to be slammed into the wall. The only thing "futsal" about it was the ball.

The good news is we're getting close to having more real futsal venues and I expect that to lessen the cost.

They didn't exactly come out and say it, but Gulati and Klinsmann both expressed concerns about the state of soccer for young players -- rec soccer if you will -- limiting the chances of an environment ever being created for players to thrive and become stars. That included such issues as playing rules, competition and costs.

Said Gulati, "The notion of 9-year-olds, 10-year-olds, 11-year-old playing 11-a-side soccer, where if they stood on each other's shoulders they could not reach the crossbar, is nonsense." He said changes U.S. Soccer recommended a few years ago will become mandatory over the next few years.

"We want to push the envelope," said Klinsmann in support of the need to shake up youth soccer.

"I think this is very crucial for the development of the kids to challenge them with more contact, more touches and faster-decision making, just to be a lot more alert on the field," he said of small-sided games. "All of the pieces are really crucial in the long run. They might not pay off until 2018, but hopefully they pay off in the next 10-15 years and make a huge difference."

This does make sense.
