U9G SuperCopa Last 4 Spots

Any word on the last 4 open spots for the Girls U9 SuperCopa in June?

They have 12, and historically on the boys side in every division keep it to 3 TX teams. They have also run them without max capacity on the boys side.

Agreed everyone wants a spot, but if they do as they did when they started it with the boys... the next year is when it really blew up...

Will be interesting to see how it plays out...

'El Paso, TX -- The El Paso Velocity nine year-old girls soccer team has become the gold standard for youth programs.
After winning almost every notable event in the Sun City, it is now off to Dallas where the national SuperCopa G tournament awaits in June where 16 of the country’s best teams will clash for national supremacy.
However, there is one unique roadblock standing in the way between now and the big event; the team does not have enough players.
The tournament requires the Velocity to have a minimum of 14 players on the roster, which is currently holding nine players.
As a result, head coach Elia Coca and the Velocity will be holding an open tryout Saturday, January 31 at Galaztan Park where at least five spots will be up for grabs for experienced players looking to take part in the event come June.
Historically, the SuperCopa G tournament has been held solely for boys. 2015 marks the first season a girls' tournament will be held."

Hah...pretty sure rules say nothing about needing 14...

Well. It looks like DTS South, FC Dallas Shepard and SRSA are going to be there. NTX will represent well!

Well, that's fun. Those two teams played well in the QUALIFYING tournament. I can't remember, how did SRSA do in that one?

I remember that of the 3, none of them won the tournament.
But if you want to go off of a 1 weekend resume, be my guest.

How is that better?  Both suggest the same thing, a club name or 1 tournament result trumps all the data compiled in 2014.. which is amazing. My money says they ignored 2 full seasons & several tourney results and simply took the remaining 3 playoff teams from the QT.

Maybe I read it wrong, but I thought in one of the initial messages it said that any remaining invites, outside of the QT, would be determined based on a teams performance over the last year. Or maybe I'm the only one that saw that w/my magic decoder ring.

What are you suggesting? Kicks North should have been there instead of FC?

As a DTS parent I am proud of the growth and development over the past year for our players. I believe there are MANY top teams in the NTX area. I will say I have high hopes for our team not just for this event but for the future of the team. Our coach won the 02 boys Supercopa division last year. His training and dedication to the 06 team speaks volumes to me. For me it isn't about this one event or that one event. It is about the ongoing growth of our players. So some may agree some may disagree with which teams receive invitations. Congratulations to all the NTX teams that received invitations. NTX should be proud that we have many options for our DDs training.

I apologize borussia , everyone has their usual profiling issues. I am sure you know the plot on this one and so does every 06 coach in NTX. For a minute, I thought you were the creator of this mess. To clarify, kicks north is as good or better as any top teams that are in the super copa.

It was the qualifying tourney for the SuperCopa and the results of said tournament are a hell of lot better than inviting a team because of privileges afforded the Big Clubs.
Ok, so we go with the data over the last two seasons, Sting Fuego is in because they won the QT. Agreed? Sting Black(FBR #1) is in because of the data. Oops, big problem, Sting Fuego has 2 maybe 3 players for the SuperCopa because they are actually Sting Black with a couple of guest players. At least at the time of the QT they were Sting Black, Fuego may have enough to field a team now but it won't be the team that won the QT, because that was Sting Black.
Ok, lets use another example, Selecao is in because they are defacto #1 and in my opinion they are on a different level. Consensus? Well, Kicks North Weir (FBR #2) loses two of their best players because they are playing on Selecao. So how good is the data? FBR is a guide, it's not the be-all-end-all. So arguing over 1 week results against data with a ton of changing variables is tough on either side of the argument.
Shepard was a mid 20's team before they picked up the players from Sting Black and a few others. In the QT tourney they beat what the data said was then #1 SRSA, #5 Solar Pulp, #9 Bellatorres, and lost to #3 Sting Black(Fuego) in the finals. Ask the previous FBR master, Shepard's results skewed FBR to the point that 30's ranked teams jumped just outside the top 10 (need to fact check me, could be exaggerated, my memory is not that good). FBR is just a guide not the gospel.
Again, my statement was that tourney results were better than Big Club privileges, nothing more. Dude, I'm guessing you think TCU should have been ranked ahead of Baylor because the data said so, forget the fact that Baylor actually beat TCU in a football game.
