Interesting thread going on in the 06 forum. You 07s might want to read

Looks like there is going to be a lot of reshuffling coming this summer in anticipation... I wonder who is going come out better in this... 06s or 07s.... I can see a lot of the smaller clubs losing players due to not having enough players in the age groups...

Just chatted with a few team parents and coach, no one heard anything yet, all thought it is the same rumor pump up every years.

It would be a challenge for my 06, however would also be good for us to make a decision to stay in soccer or not in next 1 or 2 years, better than quit soccer in select.

Guess I need to visit 06 forum often which is another good thing, the 07 is so boring.

I think both groups 07 and 06 will be fine......for the big clubs like you said!!!!

Our coach received notification today and had a team meeting with parents after practice tonight to go over his plan on how he is going to handle the change.

What we have been told is that age pure has not happened yet, and likely will not happen for at least a while.  The changes that have been approved are that 06's and younger will now play 9v9 through U12, and won't begin 11v11 until U13 instead of beginning 11v11 at U11.

This is a good thing IMO for the kids.  Smaller fields, tighter spaces, and more focus on skill development should make for a better player as the kids age.

It would be nice to actually get the information so we can prepare for the future. We have one saying that their coach had a team meeting after practice to discuss... and we have another told that it will not likely happen. Across the forums I keep hearing that this is going to start next summer.... then I have others that are speculating that it will not happen.... can we get a reliable source for this? or are we going to keep with the "probably going to happen" countered with a "probably not going to happen" posts? Is anyone willing to actually type out the "letter" that was sent to the coaches? Or link a scan of the document...redacted if necessary? If this is going to happen next summer, that is really going to dictate what my immediate future is going to be for my DD.... if this is speculation then it may not....

Our coach heard from someone higher up in the Sting organization. Apparently he was not the only coach in the organization to hear because another coach is having a parent meeting to discuss their plan tonight. If you look at the looking for players section you will notice a coach from the same organization is looking for '06s, '07s, and '08s which would make sense if the change is really happening. Hmmmmmm...true or not, it is interesting!
