ECNL National Event
ECNL National Event
National Draws announced. Just looking to see if anyone has thoughts on the likelihood of success of our Texas Conference brethren.
In the Championship Series. Likelihood to advance from bracket play... Who got tough draws? Any surprises?
Bracket B
Solar
Slammers FC
Orlando City
Ohio Premier
Bracket D
FC Stars of Mass
Real Co
Dallas Texans
McLean
Bracket F
Concorde Fire
Real So Cal
D'Feeters
Santa Rosa
Bracket G
FC Virginia
Match Fit
West Coast FC
Lonestar
Bracket H
PDA
Colorado Storm
Atlanta Fire
AHFC
In the North American League. Format is different. Only the first opponent is known as this is knockout and reseeding can take place to avoid Conference matchups early.
Sting vs FSA. Winner of that game advances to play winner of Sockers and World Class
FCD vs Albertson Fury. Winner of that game advances to play winner of Eagles and Continental FC.
After that, is anyone's guess being knockout. Chances for either of the Texas teams to win this?

Re: ECNL National Event
Best soccer in the U.S.
I always pull for the Texas teams.
I can't really offer predictions as I haven't seen the out of state teams play. I just keep the faith that Texas soccer is better than most.
Keep us updated.

Here are my two cents
Easiest Draw...non of these draws are easy but some are not as tough as others.
1. Solar: They should roll through Orlando City and Ohio Elite. The story will be how many goals they decide to put up. Their only test will be Slammers who they beat soundly in last year's tournament. I don't think Slammer can score as many as Solar against the two weaker teams so with goal differential Solar could tie Slammers and go through to Virginia for the Finals.
2. Defeeters: This really depends on the condition of the "Moon." If she is playing then Defeeters have to feel great about this draw. I thought about putting this as the easiest but I don't know her status. Feet already beat the #1 team in this pool Concorde earlier this season and despite Concorde's stats they are not a dangerous team, their conference is weak at best. Their best player is an other worldly goalkeeper and a lightning fast forward ('01) but not much else. A tie is the worst I could see happening in this game for Feet. Feet's toughest game is against a #3 team out of CA (Real So Cal). Using the Texans as a barometer whom Feet tied twice....Real So Cal lost to two teams that the Texans beat this year (West Coast FC - one trick pony, Colorado Storm - soft all the way around) and Sockers who didn't make the championship draw.
3. Lonestars: I wouldn't be surprised if they "tied" their way into the Final 8 without scoring or giving up a single goal. Lonestars is a very tough team to score on. If they can score 2 goals...big "if"...then they are almost guaranteed a place in the Final 8. The #1 team (FC Virginia) is from a soft division and played in a lot of 1-0, 0-0, 1-1 games. 16 of their goals coming against 2 of the worst defenses in ECNL means their offense isn't as stout as the 2 GPG implies. West Coast is a one trick pony with the outside right forward being a tough match-up but she plays right into the strength of LS with their LB and Left CB being their best defenders.

Re: ECNL National Event
Agreed. Very favorable bracketing for those 3 teams... Texans got a tougher, but managable bracket... Definitely can tell it's not a tournament managed by the DTX!!outonthelimb wrote:DDdad wrote:I know this is ECNL related but since it is only about the '00, maybe I can post here for fun and not turn this into a ECNL Slam.

Solar definitely advancing.
Are the feet still injured?
What's your prognostication for DTX? The FC stars look good on paper- how good are they?
Good luck to all the tx teams!

Re: ECNL National Event
In the North American Cup, Stimg '00 ECNL won the North American Cup with four straight wins. Great job ladies. And let's not forget Solar Elite that advanced through Southern Regionals to the USYSA National Finals (final . Very talented age group.
