2 keepers on a team the good the bad and the ugly please
2 keepers on a team the good the bad and the ugly please
We are looking for a team and many have good arguments of why or why not to play on a team where you split time in games. I understand why a coach wants 2 keepers especially in todays game with all the concussions and injury's as they get older but what about the player
1, The good. competition makes you better the availability to do other things such as guest play in a showcase or go to an Id camp or other things.
2. The bad. only playing half a game or not at all. It would suck to get up at 6 am on a sat drive an hr across town and watch especially if you are a competitive player who wants to be on the field.
3.The Ugly. It destroys teams. I found that it splits teams right down the middle and half the team and their parents say when they get scored on" well if this keeper would have been in they wouldnt have scored" It can get ugly fast

You just described every field player's game day. Very few colleges are only going to carry one keeper. Coach may only play one keeper though. Get used to it now? Maybe

Bad split playing time, the divide in the team (biggest issue i see is when one keeper been on the team and the second keeper comes loyalty can be an issues for the second)
There are good and bad to both. At younger ages unless its a situation of GK wanting 50/50 goal and field time they need to play and play all game. I dont see as much of a value in having a second keeper. At the older age groups competition even more important (Ive seen keepers get complacent you dont really want that after being with same team so long). Injuries more likely its good to have a second keeper.
