They should give her the "boot" as well. I'm sure there are plenty of young good players willing to show respect to the nation that gives them the opportunity to play the great game.
WE get it... you don't have to stand... You also don't have to play.

I think her days with the WNT are numbered anyway as she will be released to make way for new blood.

Yes all of these people are so oppressed they were able to reach the highest level of play in their sport and make $$$ doing it.
Can I get some of that oppression please?

If they like sitting for the anthem they can sit for the game. They should be fined and benched or fired. Period.

She may just be trying to create an excuse for being dropped or trying to set up for a law suit after she is dropped blaming it on violating her freedom of speech rights.
Trying to jump in the victim seat and grab some $ on the way out.

Fabulous example for all those little girls looking up to you.
For the love of God ... These athletes say they are protesting police brutality. Can she not find a more relevant means to make absolutely zero difference? I'd love to hear just one intelligent explanation from any of these sheep that would link our national anthem (or the United States in general in any regard) to the police brutality issue. How is this not causing more harm than good?
Sheesh.

They knew she was going to kneel prior to the game and did nothing. If this is their position, shame on them for not taking it prior to the game, and shame on them if they don't take immediate action.

2. Her employer has every right to fire her if she doesn't represent them the way that they want her to.
3. The issue of police brutality has been discussed ad nauseam due to the black lives matter movement. Anyone thinking it's not been discussed enough doesn't have a grasp on reality.
4. Rapinoe is a coward. It's like flipping your boss the bird after you've decided to retire. She's at the end of her career anyway and isn't missing any Olympics or World Cups due to this "courageous" stance.

I do find this situation a bit odd. Is there anything more lesbian than the USWNT? Softball, maybe.

Re: Megan Rampinoe
Not sure if I would call her a coward she is making her statement in the twilight of her career probably knowing that there are going to be repercussions for her actions. Probably some folks that are against her that were originally a supporter of her.CBTeamworks wrote:1. She has her constitutional rights as an American to protest in this fashion. What that means is that she will not be thrown in jail for this type of free speech. Agree
2. Her employer has every right to fire her if she doesn't represent them the way that they want her to. Agree and US soccer should act. YOu have the freedom to speak your mind but that goes both ways and folks have to realize the first law of science. For every action there is an equal reaction. I think that's how it goes not sure if it's the first law school was way too many years ago.

Discussion of Black lives matter hasn't not really solved anything and really hasn't stirred the conversation (most folks still don't see it as a problem) as this probably won't solve anything either however, this seem to have gotten peopled a whole lot more fired up than a group of folks marching up and down a street.

She has the Right and Freedom to express her opinion.
What people tend to forget is she has NO RIGHT do so without suffering the ramifications from expressing her opinion from any organization or person in the country who does not agree with her opinion, as long as what they do is legal.

I thought I would catch more heat for this.
SCOTUS legalized gay marriage in late June 2015. In July 2015, the very first thing we saw on tv after the world cup win was Abby Wambach kissing her wife. There's definitely discrimination out there, but lesbian soccer players, specifically aging ones, don't have much to complain about.

The softball comment was the best.
