Megan Rapinoe - US Women's Soccer

Good calls, bad calls aside. How is it that Megan Rapinoe is not getting any credit for keeping this team in the tournament? She is spark that keeps this team alive. Abby Wambach was a complete nonfactor (except the pk) against Canada.

Easy!! Nobody cares but us and our DD's....

She's not as cute as Alex Morgan.

And she just came out of the closet.

My husband was sad about that. He actually told me that he was gonna have to get a new girlfriend on the USWNT now that Rapinoe came out. Due to the above mentioned cuteness of Alex Morgan, he got over it quickly. .

I mentioned that to my '85 dd who played against her a few times. She just looked at me as if to say, "duh!"

As I recall, she had a very talented twin sister on that club team as well. She certainly has been excellent in this tourney.

She was pretty damn good in the World Cup too. She doesn't get the credit she deserves. As BC said, there is one such player on almost every team.

Actually, the media (and everyone else seemingly) love the goal scorers. Goals make for good highlight material, and then its logical to interview the goal scorers. Abby is far & away the top US goal scorer, and Alex will soon be 2nd (although far distant) at her current pace (only 9 goals and 5 goals behind Lloyd and O'Reilly.

I have to give credit to Good Morning America's Josh Elliot who is clearly a fan of the USWNT. Several times in the past he has talked (intelligently)about the team. The morning after the Canadian game they were harping on the "Alex Morgan hasn't scored a goal since the first game so she was not playing well" baloney that made the media rounds. Elliot went out of his way after they threw to him to talk about how great Rapinoe and Morgan had been playing because they were notching up assists and making all kinds of good stuff happen during the tournament.. It was good to hear, and clear that Elliot would talk for hours about the team if they let him.

Remember Rapinoe's starting slot was taken from her in the World Cup, and instead of whining she stepped up and proved she deserved to be out there again.. Love that girl.

I must say she is my favorite player on the USWNT!
