FBR 09 February 15th, 2017

Updated 09 FBR as of 2/15/17. Only 09 teams with 3 or more games are included in the FBR published rankings. All games in leagues and tournaments that "publish results" are included.

Only 09G games against other 09G games are being shown on this FBR.  We have to have common opponents to calculate a correct FBR.  KEEP IN MIND: I cannot add a team if they are playing up an age group, or against boys as we have no way to compare those teams to any of the other 09G teams we have.

There are a lot of teams without the 3 game minimum, so there will be a lot of movement as new game data comes in as league play is just starting.

As per the usual, ranking points are derived from who you play and their tier (not your own tier) and, how well the teams you play do.  As always regulation scores are used for FBR, not OT and no PKs that determine game result (if known).  FBR is presented as W/L/T not W/T/L.  This FBR is the sole representation of FBR09, any and all complaints (and compliments) should be directed to FBR09.  These rankings use the same software and criteria as with all prior year FBRs. Remember,  there is going to be a lot more teams added as we get more game data in, and a lot of movement in the next month.

Feel free to PM or email if you think there is an error with your team or if you have any questions.  GotSoccer is generally used to determine team name/coach/club.  With limited data, I cannot tell which teams are still currently active so please message me of any recent changes.

This looks fairly accurate except for the Kicks being ahead of LFS... LFS beat the Kicks 9-0 two weekend ago.

Might be a strength of schedule combination issue. I'll look over, but again, I expect this to look a lot different come next update.

I think the bigger surprise is that Kicks jumped Texans Savage.

I agree... Savage shouldn't have been jumped either

LFS or Savage shouldn't have been jumped. I thought they would have rounded off the top 5.

Just a tad condescending, don't ya think? FTR, I have followed FBR for a while now but '09 is the first ranking that I have a child in. I find the ranking to be surprising good at a very difficult task. There's no harm in discussing where it might be a bit off. Everyone knows it isn't perfect nor does the ranking even matter. I just find it entertaining to follow.

Perhaps a bit condescending.  Most people don't really understand how it really works, so you see comments about "this team beat that team and should be ranked higher," "these two teams shouldn't have leaped over that team," etc.  Let the data develop and enjoy the ride.  FBR does a very good job.  No, it's not perfect, but it does provide a pretty accurate sense of at least the ranges of where teams are on the scale.

But don't fool yourself.  FBR matters and not just for parents' satisfaction.  It gives players looking an idea about the quality of team and is used to seed tournaments, including the big one that you may go through in 2.5 years.  So, while it doesn't matter much for 09s right now, it certainly will as you move closer and closer to the summer of 2019.

Fair enough. I do understand that it's a relative strength based point system and one game shouldn't matter... we both agree that it will work itself out. I appreciate your informative response. Take care.

I think the FBR is the most important part of this forum. The boys don't have it and the boys forum is no fun. Once the girls reach select and FBR goes away so does a lot of the debating back and forth on what team is better. Enjoy your ride 09 parents.

Well i think its good as long as the tournament directors go by the ranking for the most part to seed teams in bracket play. Even if its not perfect its a great start. Thanks FBR09

Looks like the Kicks and LFS seem to be more evenly matched than we have been led to believe....FBR wins again...

Maybe so... huge difference in the results only a month apart
