FBR 09G April 30th 2017

I am only doing this because the natives are getting restless.  Not sure what happened to FBR 09 but here you go.  This ranking is including games through April 30th.  Hopefully, this will satisfy your insatiable thirst for 8 year girls soccer ranking for a couple weeks.

what's going on in the 09 world any updates on the rankings?? do we have a new FBR09G ???

I see that FBR 08 and FBR 07 received 2 updates this summer can we get a update for the 09?? hopefully whoever get the Job for FBR 09 is better then the old FBR 09..

If we have a volunteer, he/she can just start doing it. I am not sure why someone has to have a specific blessing by the former person. Might even be interesting to have more than one rankings list for cross comparison.

The most important aspect of the FBR is to follow the exact same methodology for calculating the rankings as the previous age groups. That's why, I assume, there needs to be continuity between those who have led it for the other age groups and whoever will take that task on for FBR09G.

Yes this is on me to get it rolling again... Now that Tut, QT etc done.. I thought I would have more time, then something came up at work that is taking my time. I will get it caught up and handed off...

Rankings in general, and FBR specifically, are public domain. It's not for me, or any of the other FBR "owners" to dictate terms or conditions.

There's a proven methodology that has been shown to work well, and if someone wants to step in for the '09's and take on the effort to build and maintain a database of results and publish rankings using the same methodology, then we will help that person to do so.

By the same token, if someone wants to modify the FBR formula, or wants to start a completely different ranking based on a different methodology, formula, emphasis, human poll, etc... then by all means, they should go ahead.

The only reasons why FBR has been around as long as it has, is because there have been people who have been willing to put in the time and effort to be diligent in publishing on a regular basis, and because the methodology has proven to be relatively accurate over time.

If someone wants to continue what we have done with FBR for the other age groups... GREAT!
If someone wants to do some slightly different and still call it FBR... GREAT!
If someone wants to do something completely different, and call it whatever they want... GREAT!

If you like FBR... GREAT! Enjoy it!
If you hate FBR... GREAT! Ignore it!

Not having been around long, I have no history of what is a good or bad ranking system. I have been told FBR is a software program, and assuming all games are inputed correctly, should yield rankings that would be consistent with other ages and consistent for one age group over time. Of course, since rosters can be fluid within two teams with one coach, there is always issues when the a team uses gold team players on a silver team in a tournament, or guest players. But that problem cannot be solved. I admire people who have the time and energy to do this. In some respects it is a thankless task since you cannot please everyone.

thank you FBR07. i offered to FBR08 but if for some reason the new 09 doesn't work out, I'm willing to assist. I do this for my day job and am looking for a new project.

BW I miss back in the day when all was taken care of by you.

The hours are horrible and the pay sucks*...

Other than that, it's a completely thankless job. Don't know why I ever gave it up...





*Was never able to convince the King TuT TD to give me 3% of the gross parking receipts from Toyota Soccer Center on King TuT weekend in exchange for helping him seed his tournament...

And now we are running into tournaments where I guess they are using the last set of rankings from May plus whatever. That is their greatest value. For instance, one tournament this weekend has 20 '09 teams, so setting up three divisions where teams are properly seeded is a real challenge.

New FBR09 is working on it. He/She has info to get started. Once that person is setup, then I will transfer the 09 data. Might be best to start fresh though, we'll talk through this. Some things take time.

Fall season starts this weekend... any chance we see an update before the season starts?

I saw the new FBR09 over the weekend and suggested we take a different course to get the software setup, my original idea didnt work. So hopefully he/she is doing that. Once we get the software setup it wont take long to get caught up. Slim odds for this weekend though, but we are working on it.

The Summer Splash tournament this last weekend had some significant games for ranking purposes.

Rush has decided to play against '08s only in league play and tournaments. I wonder how long until FBR drops them from the '09 rankings? Isn't it after 4 months of no games?
