Any thoughts from the professionals on who earns the four spots?

Here are mine in no particular order:

Colleyville Evolution for sure...

The rest is a crap shoot and will be very interesting to watch!

I wouldn't say Evolution for sure but only because that bracket is by far the toughest. Any 4 of those teams could easily make Classic and any 4 could win any of the other brackets. There are some solid defensive teams and usually that means it's just one bounce here or there for them or the teams they're playing.

First question is what 2 teams out of each bracket will advance to Round 2? It would be nice to see 5 even groups of 4 instead of this random 2nd place team out of a 3 team Bracket A. Also, committee performing the seeding gave respect to PPL Red then White then Blue. Looking back at some recent results, it seems strange. Regardless, the question is...what 2 from each bracket move on?

I wish we could get an explanation on how these pools were set up. Pool A is a joke - the #54, #65 & #75 ranked teams in NorthTX.

Actually, a better statement is "I wish we could get an explanation on how these rankings are determined". Some of the PPL teams are ranked in the top 30 simply because they beat up on lesser competition all year and earned enough "victory points" to climb the rankings using whatever magic formula GOTSOCCER uses that doesn't include "How tough is your competition?".

That is a very good point.  At the same time though teams only accumulate points in GotSoccer if other teams in their brackets have points.  You can win an entire tournament and get 0 points because your team's points were so high relative to the bracket cumulative that you don't get any.  There is some sort of control through the math.

One thing to note though, teams that play MORE tournaments do get more opportunities to accumulate points and thus can inflate GotSoccer rankings.

I was wondering if there was a way to break it down for next weekend. Couldn't figure out the X,Y,Z that was shown. Wonder how close you got it. We'll find out soon. Hopefully. Gonna be hot again too!

If I understand it correctly, 2 divisions of 3, 1 of 4.  The 4-team division will play everyone in their own division. The 2 3-team divisions will play the other 2 in their division plus 1 randomly selected team from the other 3-team division.  The 4 that advance are.....the 3 division winners and the best 2nd place team.

How they seed and how they select the 3rd opponent (i.e. how random that is) is something for each of us to somewhat guess at.

You are spot on. 3 bracket winners then the BEST second place finish (i.e. Most points).

Thought the bottom bracket would be very tough and it was. Unfortunately for those 4 teams they go put together because I honestly think any of those 4 beat would have had a chance to win any of the other brackets.

The second weekend is pretty well balanced but IMO someone in bracket 2 is going to have an easier time if they draw Fury. Nothing against Fury but SPTX and Fever are better teams than them so it's not really even or fair for someone.

Congrats to those that made it through round 1. Biggest surprise is no Colleyville.
