Lake Highlands week 1 Empty Lake Highlands week 1

Post by lewi9 24/08/17, 04:50 pm

Week 1 games:

Solar Covey vs. DT West Diaz
DT South vs. Fever Penn
Kicks Selecao vs. LP Elite
Kicks JM Angell vs. Solar Haylock

Idle: Sting Shepard

Should be an interesting and very competitive season! Thoughts on week 1?

Expecting many of these teams to be very different than the ones who wrapped up last season in April. Looks like Solar Covey (nee Sting) and Sting Shepard bumped up into vacated byes.

Working hypothesis - the changes wrought by DA & ECNL team formation benefit teams that likely stayed mostly intact from last year. Fever Penn & Solar Haylock may be in position to put up good results, especially early on.

First year the 05 group has not been a super group. Lets get a rundown of what to expect from each team.

My guess is from top to bottom it will not be as strong as years past, but those teams who earned byes from last season and were not impacted by the ECNL/DA money grab will clearly separate from those who are fill in teams or whose roster was remade upon the departure of the ECNL:DA kids. Who those teams are remains to be seen.

Kicks Selecao vs. LP Elite will give us a better understanding of the changing landscape.

Looks like a pretty weak 05 group this year. Selecao takes #1 without anybody coming close

Assuming selecao is the same from last year I agree with you. But does anyone know if that is he case? I though the kicks kids went to feet to play ECnL or whatnot.

DTS will be some of the same girls with a lot of new ones. These same girls will finally get playing time that has nothing to do with a mop and bucket though.
Liverpool lost a few, gained a few but the one from OK they lost might be the dagger. Plus they are playing RPL too.
Selecao girls will prob be different each week since the majority are dual rostered with the ECNL team.
Fever who knows, have not heard a peep from them all summer. Maybe the same maybe all new. Anyones guess.
Haylock I thought someone said was nearly the same team, Correct?

Fever & LPE off to good starts. Selecao & DTS not so much.

Player movement inside the big 4 clubs looks like it's having a big impact.

Anyone know the Kicks/Haylock score from DI or the Skaife/Rigsby score from dII. For some reason, all the 05 scores from yesterday have not been updated.

Haylock 1
Kicks 0

One bad bounce, and a good finish... going to be a fun season.

Standings are always screwed up. They only work for a handful of divisions for the first couple games.

Haylock ended up with an interesting seed in PLD.. Will be fun to see how far they can get. The '05 Goliath's appear to be not as big and bad as everyone predicted. Maybe the ECNL/DA / big time travel tournament thang l is tiring out the 12 yr olds who may not be ready for all the travel.

Or there could be another more reasonable possibility that you're not considering.

What seed did they get and what is the more reasonable explanation. Both prior posts have me confused.

Haylock is Gold (where they should be) and top seed in 3rd bracket. Drew Kicks JM, Texans Bussey and NTX Celtics. Will be some good games. All about evenly matched.. Will be the most exciting and brutal of all the brackets.

Not sure how Texans South 06 ended up in Gold top seed in 1st bracket given they are playing up a year. Doesn't look like a terribly tough bracket though. About equal in competition to the silver brackets.

Kicks Selecao should only have 1 difficult game (OKC Energy). otherwise pulled Solar Colvin '06 Red (not nearly the same team as last year) and a D3 Texans team.

The other more probable explanation is the teams are basically the same meaning not quite the same. Some of the players that went ECNL are probably not playing LH.

I think DTS is still as big and bad as everyone thinks they are, that's just not the same team that you see in LH anymore. Very few D1 teams look the same is they did last season.

I don't disagree that DTS is big and bad but sometimes even the best defenders and mids can't compensate for size. The '05s must be drinking a lot of milk with the HGH cuz they are intimidating to the smaller '05s and certainly even the biggest of '06s. My DD is on the smaller side of the '05s and she has a really hard time getting the big mids and forwards off the ball. She wants to switch to keeper.. She says it has to be a lot easier that what she is currently tasked to do.

DTS ECNL is big an bad. The LH DTS team is not big and bad, however they are also not bad either.....if that makes sense.
