JDL 7v7 and 9v9 Fields the same size?
JDL 7v7 and 9v9 Fields the same size?
Had our first game today at Chinn Chapel Field 1a and was amazed at the thoughtfulness of LH /Junior Development League to ensure the development of our daughters was in their highest regard. The only thing missing was the 9v9 teams using the build out line. Not sure who thought this was a great idea or even feasible by looking at the US Soccer Small Sided Games Chart to have both the 7v7 division and the 9v9 divisions playing on the same field?
This can also be found here: http://www.ussoccer.com/coaching-education/resources/us-soccer-player-development-initiatives and posted below for easy reference.
U11 and U12 should be playing on a different field and at minimum 50x80 IMO. Give the girls the max length and meet us in the middle on width or even give us the max width of 55 and max length of 80. The space is there we are playing in the middle of an 11v11 field, seems just pure laziness and lack of consideration of the players, coaches and the 'development' of the game. We pay for the league fee and this is what LH gives us in return...baffles me.

JDL run by LH. LH run by clubs.
If the DOCs told LH that the field sizes are unacceptable and changes need to be made or the ECNL clubs will finally make good and do their own thing, I am thinking there would be some changes. Ask your coach if they are willing to take the matter to the DOC.
But does it really matter - I mean, it's not like anyone is keeping score.

Just curious... Did you measure the size of field 1a? It looks a bit small but ok to me. I've seen 7v7 played in a much smaller field. Maybe here 7v7 is playing in the field bigger than the suggested size, not the 9v9 play a smaller field than the suggested size?
