DT West 08 Ducking Competition?

i have a ?, if DT West 08 Diaz is in the top 5 of FBR why are they ducking competition and not playing vs the other top 08 teams in primetime?

obviously, it's a good team and i personally know he is a very good coach but not sure why he is ducking the competition. it's just an observation since he likes to compete at the big tournaments.

no pun intended towards the team, just asking since they won u90c and did well in vegas cup. i dont get it

They don't need to waste their time on possession happy teams.

They did play in the Silver division of the 07' age group in Las Vegas, which is basically the bronze bracket since there's a Silver Elite bracket. Ended up losing 5-1 to an 07' Kicks Selecao team. Haven't they been losing to the top 08' NTX teams already?

Unless your DD plays for this team, why do you care?

If the coach thinks what he is doing is the best path for developing his team at this time, that's all that matters.

Sometimes, a coach will intentionally play a team down in a lower level league because he/she wants to work on a particular aspect of their game - possession, playing out of the back, experimenting with kids in different positions, etc. - and the coach wants the kids to have success and build confidence before ramping up against faster, more skilled opponents.

Maybe that's what's happening in this case, or maybe the coach is trophy hunting, or trying to rack up W's thinking it will improve the team's FBR ranking.  Either way, if your DD doesn't play for this team, why do you care, and why would you go immediately negative and accuse them of ducking competition?

Don't have a DD on this team, but have friends that do. They play up in the 07 age group every tournament they play in. Also, they are playing up in 07 in league. Not trophy hunting, just trying to get the toughest competition before QT.

Whatever he's doing....with his resume, Im sure it will all make sense when it matters most.

I guess I made a mistake and should have not put that as the title. I apologize to coach and team. I will text him and apologize directly. I know Vegas Cup really well and I know for sure that silver is not bronze. Silver Elite is actually gold and Gold is actually our platinum. I never said they were invincible and I am sure they take their share of losses but as I said I know he is a very good coach, not sure why he wouldn't play PT 08. If anyone knows him, he could care less what people think and or what everyone else is doing. He has a history of not giving a hoot about anyone other than his players and teams.

Just to be clear, The 07 Kick's Selecao team from U10 is now D'feeters-Kicks JM/Bones.   We lost to #2 in nation Slammers in the Gold U11 semi-finals in Vegas.  Formacao is a different team, that beat this 08 team 5-1 in Vegas.

Boiler, i did not mention or do the research on Vegas it was Big Ole Soccer Balls who said they lost to a selecao team in the silver division. I thought it was strange he said the 07 Selecao team was playing in the Silver.

Yes, I made a mistake... it was Formacao they lost to in the Silver bracket in Las Vegas. Nobody is questioning the coach or team, just putting results out there. I do know this team has been playing 9v9 instead of 7v7... like mentioned above, probably to get ready for qualifying.

Wow shots fired, since when is playing older teams "ducking competition" whoever started this post sounds like they got a bit of a chip on their shoulders...

We covered that already.....

At least the 08 forum isn't dead. Glad to see something here other than teams trying to recruit.
