Finding The Right Team/Club For Your Child
Finding The Right Team/Club For Your Child
"Until the age of 14, the most important consideration by far for both players and parents should be to find the best available coaching. That is not always with the "top" clubs where parental and club pressures often lead at the younger ages; where size, strength and athleticism trumps skill and coaching that pursues games won more than player development."
That's Coerver Coaching talking! Interesting though that this is a similar message to the one Dallas Rush FC 08G placed on the Forum recently on March 26th entitled, "An Alternative Approach". The CC article goes on to say that when trying to figure out the best team to join, the parent should watch practice for things like:
1. How are players greeted? Is it warm, positive, confident?
2. How engaged is the coach throughout the session?
3. How much time are players doing, rather than stopped and listening?
4. Is everyone on the team being coached?, etc. etc.
Dallas Rush FC 08G is still looking for a few players for the Fall Season. Come join us for a "Coach Charry Morris" practice (Woman Coach/Role Model, NCAA All-American, Former Women's U21 National Team Player, and Overseas Professional). We'd love to have you out. Practices right now are in Lake Highlands.
