DII- thoughts on the middle - Preseason predictions

In current Gotsoccer State order, no other reason, no debating, just a way to start the thinking...

1. STING ROYAL 95G - Finalist in Plano Labor Day Gold - The Team to beat?
2. STING WEST 95G - No record since May... - who knows?
3. ASG 95G GOLD WEST - 10-3-4 in summer matches - moving up?
4. SOLAR ROYAL 95 (PREV TX SPIRIT 95) 3-2-1 in summer matches - from 3rd last year
5. SOLAR SC SOLAR 95G RED 5-1-2 in summer matches - Dark Horse
6. SOLAR BLUE 95G 5-3 in summer matches, shutout or be shutout - unlikely promotion
7. FC DALLAS YOUTH 95G RED 6-2-2 in summer matches - Dark horse II
8. NORTH TEXAS STRIKERS 95 GIRLS BLUE 4-2-2 in summer matches - hanging by nails or rebounding?
9. DALLAS TEXANS 95G RED NORTH 3-4-0 in summer matches - moving up or moving out?

After putting this through the NASA CRAY Climate change super computer, the results are as follows:

1. STING ROYAL 95G
2. SOLAR ROYAL 95
3. SOLAR SC SOLAR 95G RED
4. ASG 95G GOLD WEST
5. STING WEST 95G
6. FC DALLAS YOUTH 95G RED
7. SOLAR BLUE 95G
8. NORTH TEXAS STRIKERS 95 GIRLS BLUE
9. DALLAS TEXANS 95G RED NORTH

Just using the 4 games I've personally witnessed this past month where both teams were current DII teams, the only conclusion I can come to regarding those 5 teams is parity.

Solar Red, Solar Royal, Solar Blue, FCD Red and North Texas Srtikers all appear to be a coin toss where a strange bounce or pk make the difference between a tie or a decision.

As for the rest I can't predict at this time.

1. STING ROYAL 95G - they will be #1..didnt lose anybody and were playing strong to end the season and have carried it over through the summer. Good coaching now shows. The curse of Bob Taylor is gone. (PTL)
2. SOLAR ROYAL 95 - Coach has the ear of the ladies, did keep much of the top talent and added a couple of good players, but Sting Royal has confounded them recently...it wont get any better I fear. They need to Crank up the O to fend of ASG or to overtake Sting Royal.
3. ASG 95G GOLD WEST - I do not mean this as a slight...a compliment actually...they have had some scores this summer and post signing day that surprised me actually...I think they will be pretty strong and may challenge for #2.
4. STING WEST - good coach, but I just dont know. i DO know they got at least 1 really good pick up, but i am not sure of their losses. (wild card...could make me look dumber than normal)
5. SOLAR SC SOLAR 95G RED - they have a scorer...and she is good. But do they have anything else? If not...and other teams lock this lady down...it could be a long year of 0-0 ties I think.
6. NORTH TEXAS STRIKERS 95 GIRLS BLUE - dont like the coach or his style...surprised he keeps a team together...yet they are still in DII. They fight hard, just not enough horses. Saw they moved #4 to D....REALLY? ha!
7. SOLAR BLUE 95G - been mostly together a while...that should do something for them.
8. FC DALLAS YOUTH 95G RED - Lost too many talented ladies to FCD (DI) I think. Good coach, but I dont think he is very happy about being raided for the sake of the top team.
9. DALLAS TEXANS 95G RED NORTH - Dont like RS as a coach. I think his team will tank...either on him or because of him.

True. Since I have no clue anyway I hearby disqualify myself.

as one could very astutely see, I was incorrect in my Sting Royal monkey for Solar Royal as Solar Royal won 2-1 on Sat. I didnt know that at the time I was typing. I was tied up with 11 yr old soccer and hockey all day Saturday, and didnt do my research before giving my opinion.

I am very happy to be wrong about that game........but i just know we (Spirit/Solar Royal) had problems with them pretty much everytime we played them, and didnt think i would be wrong this soon. Glad I am. Please forgive.

Still think ASG might be the one to "watch".

I saw ASG for 80 minutes Saturday, they RARELY gave the ball away and took full advantage of what was given to them. They are WELL organized and deliberate, it was good soccer on display. You better come ready to play them...

Just 3 games for most and 2 games for some and already noone has a perfect record.

ASG went down to Sting Royal...
Everyone has a loss except Sting West and everyone a win except for Solar Blue.

2: ASG 95G GOLD WEST - Best win: 3-0 over Solar Red, shut-out by Sting Royal, do they have the horses to remain Top 2 D2?
3: STING ROYAL 95G - Best win: 2-0 over ASG, opening day loss may be forgivable, results show trend upward
4: SOLAR SC SOLAR 95G RED - Beaten by ASG, wins over #7, #9, team strength unknown after only 3 matches
5: FC DALLAS YOUTH 95G RED - Tough to score on and having a tough time scoring.
6: SOLAR ROYAL 95 - About to go throught the bottom of the table, if they keep scoring they will be in Top 4
7: DALLAS TEXANS 95G RED NORTH - 2 Goals in 4 matches does not bode well as they are yet to take on the real top 4

6: FC DALLAS YOUTH 95G RED - Tough to score on and having a tough time scoring still; everyone has put 3 on Solar Blue.
7: NORTH TEXAS STRIKERS 95 GIRLS BLUE - This team does not bow easily, but not scoring goals, any drop in scoring may drop them in to Relegation watch.

3 DII games this weekend, 2 of them will sort out season standings for the midseason standings and one is a battle at the top:
1. STING WEST v. ASG = Sting West is still sitting atop DII, but have played 7 matches already. Last time out they tied Sting Royal 2-2; ASG has only played 5 league matches, so their potential to move up quickly in the standings will likely be set with the outcome of this match and then the rematch on Nov 3.
Even Match, finesse versus physical determination.
2. SOLAR RED v. NTx STRIKERS = The Strikers have scored in 5 out of 6 matches, but have only scored 2 or more once, and everyone puts 3 on Solar Blue. They will be hungry to get into the mix of the middle. Solar Red is up or down, and win v Sting West and then a Thursday draw with FC Dallas Red kept them in the Top 6 with 6 matches played.
Edge Solar Red, goal difference and scoring better.
3. STING ROYAL v DT RED N. = Sting Royal should dominate this match by a 2 goals. I am just reading the results in GF / GA.

DII plays all Matches at 0945 this Saturday. This will be the 1/2 way point of the Season and should provide a clear view of who is still in contention (Top 5?) and who is facing relegation (Bottom 3?)
