My Preseason Top 20 after Aug Tournys

Question: With Oklahoma team playing in PT Academy should we include them in Top 20 or just keep it Texas teams?

Note: Just rankings without comments! Also, welcome Sting to the TOP 10!


Week 1 PT Academy League kicks off this week...here's my picks:
DT Higg 2 vs. Fever Red 0
DT South 2 vs. Sting Searls 0
CVFC(OK Teams) 3 vs. Defeeters 1
SRSA Webb 6 vs. TFC Elite 1
FCD Grubb 3 vs. Solar Dynamo 1
DT Glotz 3 vs. CVFC 0

It looks like the Oklahoma team(CVFC) will be playing double headers every other week to avoid traveling every week....at least that is my assumption based on the Week 1 schedule.

Thanks for getting this going again. PT starting this week, and Plano tourney next week, lots of games in the next two weeks.

I did hear that was the plan as well for CVFC team, double headers every other week for PT league. Sure, after next two weeks, add them to the rankings.

Any comments from anyone on Sting Searls? You added them to your top 10, and it looks like a good showing in the PT tourney this weekend. They will also be in the PT league. Where did this team come from all of a sudden? Is this the old Sting Shepard 02?

I think Sting has the best chance to upset....but I don't like to be wrong! The Fever vs DT Higg will also be interesting!

Roid - another props for this Sting team. Please update us on this team. I don't remember Sting having a top 10 team for the last few seasons. Is this an improved existing team, former Shepard team? Added key players? Help us out, as you seem to have some knowledge.

Just going by seeing them play in futsal and seeing they had size and skill and they won 3rd place in last weeks PT Tourny. They gave DT Glotz a good game losing 0-2 and beat TFC Elite! Their coach is good and he thinks they are good enough to play with the big girls in PT Academy League. ALSO, I don't think they had a top 10 since Katt left, I believe a couple of Defeeters girls left with coach when he came over to Sting.

Ah yes, makes sense, I remember the name of the coach now, formerly with D'Feeters. They probably did add some players with him. Agreed, saw their good results in the PT tourney this past weekend. This will be a very good, very competitive, and tough PT league this fall. Should be fun, starting Saturday.

In related news... I will be posting and maintaining an updated FBR ranking this week.

Good to hear, fun to read the FBR rankings. Big shoes to fill of bwgophers, and happy to see someone take it on.

Can we continue to get 2-4 human polls on a consistant basis each week as well, for the combined BCS rankings? RoidRage is good for one. How about AP pollster, where are you? We need AP Pollster in the mix, so we can see the avatar again.

TFC Elite didn't play in this one--it was Wes Larry's 02 TFC bunch. I don't think TFC Elite has played that Sting team--just played Sting East in King Tut and won (barely).

Hoping for a slightly happier score than the prediction for this Saturday, but it will definitely be a tough game! Looking forward to watching this season.

Good question... Are the TFC 02 teams still practicing and playing as 2-4 separate teams, combining in to TFC Elite for the PT league? Or is TFC Elite a specific team that now practices and plays games together with just that group? Just curious?

You are correct it was TFC-Larry...my bad! No disrespect on the prediction of the score, I hope you guys play well also. I've always given you guys props and I'm glad you guys are in PT League.

No worries--on either count--and I didn't take it as disrespectful at all, as we know what we're getting the girls into and I'm excited for the consistent competition--even though I'll be having to do some consistent reminding about not worrying about the score to my DD (and myself!) after some of these games, I'm quite sure!

As for the question posted by anothercrazy--from what I understand, Elite team will practice together (and also as part of the entire 02 group) and play together in PT, then Larry's team is playing and practicing together, and then there will be at least one other 02 team also coached by the Elite coaches (Wells and Angel) and playing in another league or two--probably with some cross-over help from the Elite team, if needed. Hope to know a bit more after tonight's practice. I am looking forward to this year, I have to say!
