Fitness???? Empty Fitness????

Do you think fitness should be incorparated high paced training sessions? If you do think so, what are the advantages or dis-advantages of doing so?

Do you think fitness should be done after training session? If so what are the advantages or dis-advantages?

FYI, I am just trying to get something going on this board. It has been really slow the last couple of days.

I'll bite. I used to think that fitness training was an advantage. I used to think that the DD's team got beat because the other team was in better shape. The score would be close going into the second half and then things went downhill. Turns out, the other teams were just better. My thoughts now on fitness, it should be incoporated into the drills and skills. If you are running certain drills correct then you will get the equivilent(sp) of a sprint session. My thoughts now are that we do fitness on the nights we are not at training. My hopes are that we are getting enough out of it that it helps in games but more importantly teaching her how to take care of her body and learning good habits.

It's nothing new, but if your players can't pass efficiently to each other under pressure then every pass is a 50/50 ball and the fastest or most physical players will get the ball. In addition, if the other teams are better at possesing the ball your dd will have to run more. If that describes your team then fitness/physical play will be a bigger focus for the coach. Watch your team play and see how many passes are 50/50, into 'space' or long. If that's your team's style, then running is very important. If your coach focuses on possesion and passing to feet then the other team will be doing most of the running. Personally I like the teams that focus on long balls and physical play. You can get by with 2 practices a week where they just run...
